ECW and Smackdown Join Family Reunion: WWE RAW Results, 10-9-06

The following report is courtesy of wrestleview.com ...

John Cena welcomed us all to the season premiere of WWE RAW. He said it felt good to say that the champ was still here despite all the crap he had to go through with Edge.

World Heavyweight Champion King Booker’s music hit and he came out to the ring with Queen Sharmell following closely behind. He asked Cena if he remembered the last time he was on RAW he made him kiss his feet.

Booker and Cena began to circle it up when ECW World Champion Big Show’s music hit and he came down to the ring.

Big Show said he was the champion of champions. He said we had a white guy talking like he was black and a black guy trying to talk like a white guy. He said there was only guy here who said what he said he was. Cena said he was wrong because no one ever called him the Michelin man. He said he was the most dominant giant in WWE history and the most dominant champion in this ring.

Cena said this whole champion of champions thing was up in the air so why not just settle it right now. He jumped Big Show, but Booker clocked him from behind. Show hit both with a big boot, sending both champions reeling. The referees took off down to the ring to break up the fight.

Loser Leaves RAW: Kane vs. Umaga
- The two started off exchanging blows in the middle of the ring. Kane got the upper hand and worked Umaga into the corner and planted him with a follow up clothesline. Umaga retaliated relatively quickly, laying Kane out with a lariat of his own.

Bye, Bye Kane

Kane blocked the spike and went for the choke slam. Umaga fought out of it only to get caught in a sidewalk slam. Kane mounted the top rope and hit his flying lariat before turning his attention to Estrada on the outside. Umaga recovered relatively quickly and flattened Kane with a Samoan spike, getting the cover for the win.
Winner: Umaga via pin fall

DX was standing behind a podium. HBK said as a result of their actions last week they would be forced to apologize to the following people: the tag team division. HHH pointed out there wasn’t much of a tag division to begin with. The Spirit Squad we apologized to and made fun of. They kept throwing out their cards on all their apologies before stopping at Edge. HBK pointed out they hadn’t apologized to anyone yet. They said they’d beat the hell out of Cade and Murdoch tonight in a street fight but couldn’t apologize for it because it hadn’t happened yet. HBK didn’t realize they were on live TV. HHH asked him what they were going to do and HBK whipped out some merchandise and plugged it before giving us a ‘suck it’.

Jeff Hardy vs. The Big Show
- Hardy came right at the ECW champ, but was quickly tossed aside. Show followed him to the corner and planted him with a big chop before tossing Hardy like a frisbee out of the corner. He ripped Hardy’s shirt in the opposite corner chopped him and then stood on him near the apron.

Hardy fought back with some punches before he got clocked with a huge clothesline. Hardy flailed away with some punches and a drop kick to the knees before hanging Show’s head on the ropes and connecting with whisper in the wind.

Hardy hit a swanton bomb but Big Show kicked out in a big way. Hardy went to whip him into the ropes but Show caught him in the cobra clutch back breaker before hitting the showstopper for the victory.
Winner: The Big Show via pin fall

Johnny Nitro popped up out of nowhere and railed away at Hardy before Big Show showed up and hit the back breaker on Nitro before tossing him to the side like a rag doll.

Chris Benoit Returns, King Booker Retains: No Mercy Results, 10-8-06

The following report is courtesy of lordsofpain.net ...

Match 1: Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms vs. Matt Hardy
- After back and forth action, Hardy went to the top for a moonsault, but Helms got his knees up during the attempt. The man formerly known as the Hurricane tried to get his offense going again, but Hardy countered and went for the Twist of Fate. However, Helms countered and connected with the Shining Wizard, but could only score a near fall. Helms then placed Hardy on the top turnbuckle.

Twist of Fate

He followed him up top, but Hardy headbutted Helms back to the mat. Helms recovered and tossed Hardy crotch-first onto the top rope. Hardy remained there uncomfortably, as the CW champ connected on a Shining Wizard off the top rope. Unfortunately for Helms, not even that move could put Hardy away. The finish came when Hardy defeated Helms via Twist of Fate at 13:08.

- Backstage, King Booker told Sharmell he needed to be totally secluded. William Regal came in to offer his full support of the King. He received a lecture from Booker, who said he needed Regal more than ever. Sharmell said it would all be OK.

Match 2: WWE Tag Team Champions Brian Kendrick and Paul London (w/ Ashley) vs. KC James and Idol Stevens (w/ Michelle McCool)
- London was beaten down for awhile ... but then Kendrick got the hot tag and cleaned house with flying kicks and clotheslines. He went for Sliced Bread #2 on the Idol, but James got involved and helped place the tag champ on the top rope. London then took out KC, while the Idol brought Kendrick crashing to the mat with a super back drop. Brian came back with a spinning DDT on James, but Stevens came in while the ref’s back was turned and hit a powerful backbreaker across his knee. Meanwhile, the ladies started a cat fight.

The champions came roaring back when they connected on a combination double dropkick. Kendrick hit the Sliced Bread #2 and London followed with the Northern Light. Kendrick and London retained at 9:39.

- Smackdown GM Teddy Long came to the ring, where a large gift box was set-up. He said it was The Miz's birthday. Mizanin came to the ring and said “Hoo-rah” a lot. TRL told him that the WWE Divas he had been hitting on (and not getting much response from) wanted to come out and help him celebrate his birthday. Layla El came to the ring. Miz said his birthday wish was her.

Layla and the Miz

She asked for a chair, which the Miz was quite excited about. Layla sat him down and asked for some music. She proceeded to perform a strip-tease and blindfold him. As the Miz was talking gibberish, Layla signaled for the gift box to be lifted. Underneath the box was the little fat guy whose been stripping on WWE RAW. He danced and gyrated on the Miz, who eventually figured it out and had a fit.

Match 3: MVP Makes His Debut vs. Marty Garner
- MVP slapped the jobber to start off his career. He then took off his chain, which read “MVP,” and did a little Ali-shuffle around the ring. Once he made an offense advance, he grabbed Garner by the waist and took him to the mat. He spun around his opponent’s back and stood up into a pose. A lot more posing followed, prompting a “boring” chant from the crowd. Basic offense followed from the newcomer, which the crowd responded to be chanting “over-rated.” The finish came when MVP destroyed the jobber at 2:42 w/ what was formerly known as the Orton Driver.

WWE and TNA News: Kevin Nash Re-signs, nWo Rumor Over

Kevin NashnWo? More like nW-NO!

Despite WWE rumors of a return of the nWo - to feud with DX - to a WWE ring, it now appears as though such talk was premature.

How come? Because Kevin Nash has signed a new deal with TNA wrestling. He is scheduled to make a “major announcement” at Monday’s iMPACT tapings concerning the Bound for Glory pay-per-view.

If Vince McMahon was truly thinking of brining back this old faction, you'd have to imagine it would have been Nash, Scott Hall and Hulk Hogan. Therefore, such an angle appears to be dead.

WWE News/Notes: Smackdown Rating, Cena Appearance

  • WWE Smackdown drew a 2.4 rating last night on the fast nationals, the lowest rating of its three weeks on the CW network. It finished in last place among major stations for the evening.
  • John Cena will be on FSN’s The Best Damn Sports Show Period this coming Thursday night.

WWE News: Re-signing of Boogeyman

Hey, we just report WWE news as it happens. We don't question why.

With that in mind, the company has re-signed the Boogeyman to a new contract. After giving the weirdo his release because they were displeased with his work ethic, WWE officials must have determined he was worth another shot.

For some unknown reason.

Lashley/Booker

Weird WWE News: Chris Kanyon Appears on Howard Stern Show

As reported on earlier this week, John Cena will be appearing on the Howard Stern Show next week to plug The Marine. That makes sense.

KanyonChris Kanyon showing up on the program this morning? A bit more unexpected.

According to reports from the show, Kanyon was described as a solid guest and came off very intelligent on the program.

He brought up his release from the WWE and the staff even attempted to get Vince McMahon on the air to discuss his claims that he was fired because he was gay.

However, McMahon reportedly wasn't in his office when the calls were made.

CM Punk Blog: Responds to Kelly Kelly, Mike Knok

While it's all a work, of course, it can still be interesting to read items such as a recent blog entry by CM Punk. It gives you insight into how storylines are being planned out.

Here's an excerpt:

CM Punk

I have a couple of thoughts and most of them involve Kelly Kelly and Mike Knox. I’m the innocent guy here. I got a home life. I’m real happy with it. It’s like a schoolyard fight. I didn’t pick it, but I’ll finish it. I’m not interesting in Kelly, but if she’s going to dance and strip for me, I’m going to watch.

Mike Knox simply needs to put a longer or shorter – rather – leash on his girlfriend.

At least ECW is developing its own angles, such as this. It's been relying on RAW and Smackdown superstars to make random appearances for too long now.

WWE Tops Search Engine Hit List

While ratings for shows such as WWE RAW haven't been off the charts in recent weeks, here's evidence that the wrestling world is still quite popular:

  • "WWE" was the number-one search term on Yahoo yesterday. It beat out other words such as Halloween costumes, NFL, Beyonce, and Jessica Simpson.

Note to everyone who ran - or plans on running - such a search: you've found your destination! Bookmark The Wrestling Post and come back here everyday for the latest WWE news, spoilers and rumors!
