WWE News: Bam Bam Bigelow Found Dead

WWE.com reported Friday that wrestler Bam Bam Bigelow was found dead in his Florida home.

"We can confirm that Scott Bigelow was found in his home this morning. At this time the cause of death is unknown," Kevin Doll of the Pasco County Sheriff's Office told WWE.com.

An autopsy will be performed on Bigelow's body; it is already in the custody of the county's medical examiner.

Bigelow worked for WWE, WCW and ECW during his professional wrestling tenure. He is best known for his feud (and eventual WrestleMania main-event) with Lawrence Taylor.


WWE.com News and Notes: Ashley on Red Carpet, Chicago Bears

Ashley, The Miz - Mike “The Miz” Mizanin and Ashley Massaro will strut their stuff on the red carpet tomorrow night at the CW’s Winter TCA Party. The SmackDown Superstars were invited to the soiree at The Ritz Carlton in Pasadena, Calif., and The Miz is particularly excited to be accompanied by Ashley.

“It’s not everyday you get to walk the red carpet with a really hot chick who’s going to be on the cover of Playboy, but I get to do that. I never get to do that on red carpets,” The Miz told WWE.com.

- This season, the NFL’s Chicago Bears finished 13-3 and won their division, the NFC North. As a token of the division championship, starting offensive guard Ruben Brown purchased WWE Championships for the entire offensive line.

WWE News: Superstars Released

WWE announced today it has released the following superstars:

  • Gangrel
  • The Gymini tag team (Mike and Todd Shane)
  • Tony Mamaluke
  • Doug Basham
  • Al Snow
  • Rodney Mack
  • Jazz
  • Sylvester Terkay

We wish all these wrestlers the best of luck. No word yet on if TNA Wrestling is interested in any of them.

WWE News: Wrestler Love Lives

  • It looks as if Trish Stratus' wedding will be the main focus during an MTV Diary show which will air on Canada's MTV on January 16. Commercials are currently airing to advertise the show and feature former WWE Divas Molly Holly and Ivory.
  • While being overseas doing promotion work for the WWE in New Zealand, current World Heavyweight Champion Batista said he is in the process of getting a divorce from his wife. He also says that his idea of a perfect girlfriend would be one who could put up with his WWE schedule.

WWE News/Notes: Andre the Giant, Trish Stratus, Smackdown Trouble

  • DrunkardMagazine.com has named WWE Hall of Famer Andre the Giant "The Greatest Drunk of All Time." The website notes that it was estimated that Andre drank up to 7,000 calories in booze everyday. It also speaks on his match vs. Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania III.
  • The reality series on CBS starring Trish Stratus, Armed and Famous, premieres tonight. Check local listings.
  • Smackdown star Sylvania Grenier was caught speeding at 96 mph in a 55 zone and pulled over on Interstate 74 at around 3 p.m., reports the Peoria Journal Star. Grenier will have to go back to Peoria for the court date, but his $200 bond at the time was paid by a co-worker in WWE.

WWE News: Why was Great Khali Moved to Monday Night RAW?

The decision to move the Great Khali from ECW to RAW was made in the last twenty-four hours, following Triple H's injury. The WWE felt it was necessary to fill the void that Triple H has left.

As we previously reported, the original plan for Khali was to challenge Lashley for the ECW World Title at WrestleMania 23. Khali is scheduled to make a final appearance on ECW tonight, wrestling Tommy Dreamer and ending that feud.

The revamped Gene Snitsky is expected to debut for ECW soon; he may be the one who fills the role that Khali leaves behind. As for Daivari, it remains unknown whether or not he will stay with ECW.

WWE News: Tazz Replacement, Rey Mysterio Contract

  • Brad Armstrong is being looked at as a possible replacement for Tazz if he doesn’t renew his contract with WWE. His current deal expires in March.
  • WWE is looking to press Rey Mysterio for a long-term contract renewal as soon as possible. His current deal expires in 2008. If he doesn’t re-sign, he may be looking at being jobbed out for a full year before he leaves, like WWE has done with people in the past. Obviously, TNA Wrestling is interested in signing him.

WWE Touts Early 2007 Success

WWE WWE issued the following press release yesterday:

WWE Rings in New Year with Sell-Outs
WWE is off to a great start for 2007 with two major pay per views selling out. Tickets for the Royal Rumble on January 28 in San Antonio sold out last week.

Tickets for WWE’s 20th annual SummerSlam live event pay-per-view sold out in just 40 minutes the Saturday before New Year's Day. The event emanates from the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, N.J., on Aug. 26, 2007.

The sell out came on the heels of a sold out non-televised RAW event on Dec. 28 at Continental Airlines Arena witnessed by more than 20,000 screaming fans.

The first Monday Night RAW of 2007 drew a sell-out crowd of more than 13,600 at Miami’s American Airlines Arena where WWE Champion John Cena took on Kevin Federline to kick-off the New Year.
