Trish Stratus Criticizes Use of WWE Divas

During a recent radio interview with Jason Agnew, Trish Stratus criticized how WWE Divas are being used these days. Here's a transcript:

Jason Agnew: You know, I am looking at someone like Beth Phoenix, who is really a good in-ring worker and is in a Playboy Mania match at Wrestlemania, any thoughts on that because I think you and her in a match would be much more entertaining than what they are doing right now.

Trish Stratus: I have always been this way, I think there is a place for it because particularly there is a deal with playboy so there is obviously a place for it, there always will be, but I really think they could always provide the other additional idea, that is kind of what I did, I had the women's storyline going for the women's championship and then it's like Beth is the champion and there is no women's championship match, so I just... boo hoo, I don't like it. I don't like it one bit Jason.

Trish Stratus Return? Unlikely

Will Trish Stratus ever return to a WWE ring? It's not likely, based on a recent quote by the former WWE Diva:

"[The fans] all want to know about a comeback and when's it going to be. I don't know," Trish said. Though she also added, "If I had retired and been sitting at home and been thinking 'what now,' I might have been 'Hi Vince, can I please come back now?' I've just gotten so busy with all this other fun stuff now."

Trish Stratus Speaks on New Reality Show

Trish Stratus will soon be hosting Second City’s Next Comedy Legend on CBC in Canada. Below is an interview with the former WWE Diva...

TV Guide: From wrestling to comedy – what gives?
Trish Stratus: People don’t know this, but I’m part of the Second City family – I did a live show there in 2004. I had a broken thumb from wrestling, and I went to Second City to take some improv classes. Word got out, and I ended up putting on a one-night-only show. And ever since then I’ll pop in once in a while and perform. I just love comedy and improv.

TVG: Did you ever think of going into it full-time?

TS: I never thought about it until now, but maybe now that you’ve mentioned it … [Giggles.] That’s one reason I retired from wrestling – it takes up every moment of your time.

Batista ad Trish TVG: What’s it like going from being the main attraction in the ring to sitting on the sidelines as host?
TS: I wasn’t really interested in just saying, ‘Hi! These are the contestants,’ and ‘Here’s the commercial break’ – that’s not fulfilling for me. So I asked to be like Tyra Banks on America’s Next Top Model. She interacts with the contestants, and is a liaison for the viewer. She’ll bust it out.

TVG: Will you bust out a performance on the show?
TS: I can’t overshadow the contestants! [Laughs.] But comedy is in my personality, and I can just be me, which is really easy to do, because, you know, it’s just being me. [Giggles.]

TVG: A lot of people might think this is just like Last Comic Standing. True?
TS: It’s completely different because it’s sketch comedy, not stand-up. The closest comparison is probably Saturday Night Live or Mad TV.

TVG: You married your high school sweetheart last September. Is your husband a funny guy? They say women want a guy who can make them laugh …
TS: Yeah, he definitely is. We both have that personality – we’re known as the goofy couple. We’re the live entertainment for the night. [Giggles.]

TVG: So, who’s your favorite comedian?

TS: Jim Carrey. He’s excellent in The Number 23 – he’s just so diverse. I love that he’s Canadian.

TVG: So many other great comedians are Canadian – Mike Myers, Caroline Rhea – why do you think we’re so funny?

TS: I think we’re good at self-deprecating humor. We’re not afraid to poke fun at ourselves.

TVG: Before this show, you did Armed & Famous. What did you learn from doing that series?

TS: [In a sinister voice.] I learned how to shoot a gun. [Laughs] Sorry. It was such a unique experience. I took that job because I love challenges and conquering new things.

Trish Stratus Interview: What's Next?

About.com has an interview up with former WWE Diva & Women's Champion Trish Stratus where she discusses the cancellation of Armed & Famous, her experience with the show and what is next for her career. Here are a few highlights:

Trish Stratus On the cancellation of Armed & Famous:
"The death of Armed and Famous is courtesy of American Idol. We went up against American Idol and obviously, the numbers just weren't there. That's what they based the cancellation on, which is unfortunate. I find everybody really loved the show...I think it was just a numbers thing. We had four episodes that aired. We had two more to go, so at least we made it more than half way through."

On her experience with the show:
"It was amazing. It was an eye opening experience. I learned a lot about myself and my determination. We walked into an entirely new world that we didn't know how to tackle. It was really awesome to learn stuff and take all this new information and really conquer something different. Also, I really have a new respect for police officers, understanding even as a rookie what they go through. They have so many facets to their job."

What is next for her career:
"I retired from wrestling the middle of September last year. I got married at the end of September to my high school sweetheart. We waited basically for my whole wrestling career to be over with because I was on the road for seven years. And we finally got married and built a new house. We put off our honeymoon because we were moving.

We were just getting settled into our new life and our new home and I get a call to go to Muncie, Indiana. So I kind of spent my honeymoon in Muncie, without my husband. My priority right now is to enjoy my husband and then I'll come back and see what offers are on my desk and move forward with something really fun."

Trish Stratus Reality Show Picked Up by VH-1

Fans of former WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus will get one more chance to see the reality series “Armed & Famous,” which features the smoking hot diva as a police officer.

The show was recently pulled by CBS for low ratings - but VH-1 has agreed to air a five-hour marathon of the series this Saturday starting at 5 p.m. EST; it will include the fifth episode that never aired on CBS.

“Armed & Famous” featured several celebrities as they trained and worked as police officers in Muncie, Indiana. The series started out strong in the ratings, but fell fast with the competition of American Idol.

It is also likely that VH-1 will air two more episodes which were scheduled to air on CBS.

Trish Stratus Rules Out WWE Return

Trish Stratus was interviewed in the Toronto Sun yesterday and effectively ruled out a WWE return due to the travelling issues; below is what she had to say when asked about a full-time return to the company:

"I'm done. I could never do that touring schedule again. Wrestling is in my blood. I love it, so if there were an opportunity to do something again in the ring, maybe. But going on the road? No -- I've moved on."

Her CBS reality show, Armed & Famous, meanwhile, has been canceled after just a few episodes.
