TNA Wrestling News/Notes: Angle and Russo, Konnan's Injury

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter ...

  • Although there aren't many details yet, TNA is looking to make Chicago their next major PPV market.
  • Konnan's hip is in really bad shape right now. He's tried everything possible to avoid hip replacement surgery, but nothing has worked out. . The feeling is that if he doesn’t get the surgery soon, he may need a wheelchair. Several backstage are saying that Konnan is more intense and passionate than he has been in years with the LAX storyline and would love to be able to wrestle right now.

TNA Wrestling News/Notes: Jeff Jarrett, Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe

The PW Torch newsletter reports the following ...

Jeff Jarrett

  • While Jeff Jarrett will be off TV for the next few months, he will be backstage at all TNA events for his behind-the-scenes duties.
  • Vince Russo is planning to make AJ Styles the new center of the X-Divison in TNA. It looks like his plans have already been put into action on night’s episode of Impact.
  • After the stiff head butt that Kurt Angle gave Samoa Joe during their in-ring altercation, Angle talked to Joe backstage to make sure everything was cool. Joe is said to have been fine with Angle’s intensity during the segment.
  • Talks between Monty Brown and TNA apparently are still ongoing, despite his name being removed from the TNA website. While Brown has been in negotiations with WWE, several close to the situation say that he could still end up signing with TNA.

TNA/WWE Rumors: Where is Chris Jericho Headed?

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, TNA wrestling management and Chris Jericho have been in contact with each other in regards to him joining the company sometime in the future.

And not just in a singing capacity.

Dixie Carter has had several talks with Jericho, who is known to keep close tabs on the industry.

While Y2J's name is high up on the list of people that TNA management wants to bring in for the company, the belief within WWE is that Jericho will end up back in his old wrestling ground when he does decide to return to the ring.

TNA, ECW News/Notes: December to Dismember Main Event; Monty Brown

  • The main event for ECW’s December to Dismember pay-per-view will be ECW World Champion Big Show vs. Rob Van Dam. This will be RVD’s first chance at a re-match since losing the title on July 4th. December to Dismember will take place on December 3rd in Augusta, Georgia.
  • Monty Brown’s profile has been removed from the official TNA wrestling website today. He hasn't signed with WWE or any other organization yet, however.

Despite Kurt Angle, TNA Ratings Remain Low

If TNA wrestling was hoping for a major improvement on its ratings due to the presence of Kurt Angle, it hasn't taken place yet.

The most recent show, which featured an Angle in-ring appearance, posted a mere 0.8 rating, essentially the show's norm. Ratings for the past two weeks reflect a tad of interest in Angle's signing, but nothing too significant.

- Footage is shown from TNA iMPACT! this past Thursday on Spike TV when Hernandez of LAX gave Gail Kim a huge Border Toss. We then go backstage where Jeremy Borash is with America's Most Wanted. Harris says no disrespect to the teams they face tonight, everyone knows they are the best. He said AMW won't look past what LAX did to Gail Kim. Storm said he doesn't understand how people let LAX into the United States.

- We see Shane Douglas coming to the ring. Douglas gets on the mic and says hello to Detroit Rock City. He introduces himself and said it is his privilege to introduce the #1 contenders for the NWA World Tag Team Titles, the newly Franchised, Naturals. The James Gang were out next and did their usual "New Age Outlaws" introduction. America's Most Wanted were out third. Team 3D were out last. Brother Ray did a KISS reference saying, "Detroit, you wanted the best and you got the best."

Sting Wins

- Team 3D won the Four Corners Tag Team Match over The Naturals, America's Most Wanted & The James Gang.

- Backstage, Jeremy Borash is at Samoa Joe's locker room. Jake "The Snake" Roberts shows up and pretty much makes no sense on the mic. One thing able to make out was that Roberts didn't like stripes, even though the was the special enforcer tonight in the Monster's Ball Match.

Chris Jericho and Fozzy to Appear in TNA Wrestling

First, Kurt Angle.

Now, Chris Jerchio?

While there have been rumors that Y2J will return to the WWE in the near future, he'll at least stop by TNA iMPACT first. But only as a musician.
Jericho and Fozzy
Here's the company's press release regarding the event:

On Thursday, October 19, on TNA "iMPACT!" on SpikeTV at 11pm ET, Chris Jericho and his band "Fozzy" will be featured in a music video for the song "Enemy" from their "All That Remains" album.

The national television debut of the video will feature Jericho and Fozzy, along with the stars of TNA Wrestling, just days before the Bound For Glory Pay-Per-View extravaganza on Sunday, October 22 live from Detroit, Michigan.

It's not a wrestling appearance, but it still can't make Vince McMahon happy that a former WWE superstar will be featured on a TNA broadcast.

TNA Spoiler: Kurt Angle Debuts

Thanks to lordsofpain.net for this TNA wrestling spoiler from last night's iMPACT tapings:

Angle Appears in TNA

Kurt Angle made his TNA deburt during the taping of the October 19th edition of iMPACT. It began with Samoa Joe being informed that if he didn’t relinquish the NWA championship, he would be removed from the roster. Samoa ended up ripping up all of the papers informing him.

This is when the lights went out and Angle entered the ring. He then proceeded to get in Samoa’s face, headbutt him, and hit the Angle Slam. They continued to wrestle back and forth until security broke them up. During this confrontation, Jeff Jarrett obtained his belt.

After the in-ring action segment, Angle took the mic. He stated the WWE did not fire him, he asked Vince McMahon for his release. He went on to say he was back to wrestling and Vince could kiss his “Olympic Ass.”

WWE and TNA News: Kevin Nash Re-signs, nWo Rumor Over

Kevin NashnWo? More like nW-NO!

Despite WWE rumors of a return of the nWo - to feud with DX - to a WWE ring, it now appears as though such talk was premature.

How come? Because Kevin Nash has signed a new deal with TNA wrestling. He is scheduled to make a “major announcement” at Monday’s iMPACT tapings concerning the Bound for Glory pay-per-view.

If Vince McMahon was truly thinking of brining back this old faction, you'd have to imagine it would have been Nash, Scott Hall and Hulk Hogan. Therefore, such an angle appears to be dead.
