Rey Mysterio Disappointed by WWE Title Run

In an interview with Great Britain's The Sun, Rey Mysterio spoke on his WWE championship run of 2006, which took place after he won the belt at WrestleMania 22.

During that time, the masked grapper was beaten by in non-title bouts by numerous foes including The Great Khali, Mark Henry and Rob Van Dam.

âNow I go back and reflect on it, when I donât have the title, I think that things could have been handled a different way," Mystero said. âUnfortunately I was the champion that lost more times holding the title.

If that opportunity comes again, Rey says he'll be better prepared:

"I know what to aim at and try to perfect, that I didnât do throughout those three months, and make it better. There is more to Rey Mysterio. I think I can give a lot more. I need to hold onto that opportunity and not let it go.â

Rey Mysterio Return Set

Rey Mysterio will make his from a torn bicep at a June 14 WWE Raw brand house show at The E-Center of West Valley City in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Mysterio will not be wrestling, but he is advertised to be in attendance.

During the house show John Cena will wrestle Umaga, Shawn Michales will be taking on Snitsky and Triple H with battle Randy Orton.

Rey Mysterio Return, Injury Update

Rey Mysterio was scheduled to return to the ring from bicep surgery next month.

However, the WWE has pulled him from all house shows in June. No return date for Mysterio has been set at this time.

Moreover, WWE rumos claim there is plenty of second guessing going on among officials on the decision to allow Mysterio to opt for a new surgical procedure that was supposed to reduce his recovery time from six months to six weeks. As a result, Rey acquired an infection during the initial surgery that led to even more operations.

Rey Mysterio Injury Update

Attention, Rey Mysterio fans:

It's possible that this high-flyer may be back within six weeks after he undergoing surgery for his torn today.

The surgery will take place in San Diego. It was originally scheduled for Friday, but was pushed back so Mysterio could be part of the WrestleMania 24 press conference.

Rey Mysterio: Out of Wrestlemania 24

Sad news for Rey Mysterio fans:

The WWE star will not be wrestling at WrestleMania 24. He's scheduled to undergo surgery to repair his torn biceps muscle this Friday and will miss between four and six months.

After missing WrestleMania last year, Mysterio had his sights set on wrestling at this year's event; there were plans to do a Mysterio/Floyd Mayweather vs. Big Show/Shane McMahon match. As a consolation, Mysterio has been been assured that he will still be involved in the angle in some way.

Rey Mysterio Suffers Bicep Injury

Rey Mysterio suffered an apparent biceps injury at this week's SmackDown/ECW brand house show in Santiago, Chile.

Rey Mysterio injured during South American tour
Rey Mysterioâs quest to regain the World Championship may have suffered a severe setback in Santiago, Chile, on Wednesday night.

The injury occurred during Wednesdayâs live event at Arena Santiago, where Mysterio teamed with Kane against Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins. During the tag contest, Rey suffered an apparent injury to his right arm â specifically his bicep. Clearly in pain, the Master of the 619 gutted it out and finished the match, then was quickly examined by WWE athletic trainer Jason Crivello upon leaving the ring.

Mysterio flew back to the United States late Wednesday night, and is currently in Gulf Breeze, Fla., waiting to meet with world-renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews, who will determine the extent of the injury.

Regardless of Dr. Andrewsâ findings, Mysterio has his heart set on competing this Sunday night at No Way Out, where he is scheduled to face Edge for the World Championship.

An Interview with Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio recently chatted with New York Newsday. Here are highlights from the interview:

After your knee surgery were you worried about hurting your knee when you returned to wrestling?
Yes. I think I am always afraid to get hurt. This knee surgery that I had is just one. I will show you my scar [Rey showed us his leg and knee scars from all the surgeries.] Every time I step into the ring I pray that I don't get hurt; for myself and for my opponents.

I just want to go out there and perform and make the audience feel good. When they walk out of the building and have them say, "Wow, that was really good. Rey Mysterio really tore it up tonight."

Besides yourself, who is your favorite wrestler?
Growing up I had many. My uncle. I am a second-generation wrestler, you have Rey Mysterio Sr. He has always been an inspiration to me. I love watching WWE. I used to love watching Shawn Michaels. Shawn Michaels has always been one of my favorites.

WWE Rumors: Rey Mysterio to RAW?

Writer Brian Gewirtz is pushing to get Rey Mysterio on Monday Night Raw.

The WWE employee noted that Mysterio is huge with children - just like John Cena has been - and there are a ton of fresh opponents for him to face on the RAW brand. There has been talk in the past of moving Rey to Raw, but it has really picked up in the last few weeks.

Right now, the decision is up in the air. We'd love to see Mysterio on Monday nights, but it would severely hurt Smackdown, a show already in need of star power.

Rey Mysterio: Named in Steroids Indictment

TMZ.com is reporting that Rey Mysterio and former WWE superstar, Mark Jindrak, are the other two wrestlers named in the federal indictment against Chris Benoit's physician. Below is the article from TMZ.com:

"TMZ has learned that current WWE SmackDown wrestler Rey Mysterio (real name: Oscar Gutierrez) and former WWE wrestler Mark Jindrak, are the two other wrestlers named in an indictment against Dr. Phil Astin, the physician currently involved in the Chris Benoit double murder/suicide investigation.

When contacted, a WWE spokesperson told TMZ, "We cannot comment on this ongoing investigation at this time."

WWE News/Notes: Rey Mysterio Return, Paul Heyman

During his appearance at the "World of Wheels" in St. Paul, Minnesota this past weekend, Rey Mysterio was walking around just fine after his knee surgery just weeks ago.

He appeared to be in just as good of shape as when he left TV. He says he will be returning to TV on Smackdown in San Diego on February 20, however it doesnât look like he will be cleared to actually wrestle until after WrestleMania. Right now, he is not written in for any in-ring action at Wrestlemania 23.

Paul Heyman is still on WWE payroll, however there is no indication that he is actually doing anything right now. There are no plans to bring him back to the WWE booking team in any form. At this point, he is just being paid to sit at home.
