WWE Advertises Clinton vs. Obama for RAW

This is lame.

On last night ECW, WWE ran a sketch inviting Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to settle their differences in the ring on the April 21st three-hour edition of Monday Night RAW.

WWE said, "Forget about who is better when the phone rings at 3am and see who is better when the bell rings!"

Expect this to be similar to WWE's rendition of Donald Trump vs. Rosie O'Donnell a couple years back, which was one of the stupider segments in WWE history.

WWE RAW Rating Drops, Basketball Blamed

This week's edition of WWE RAW earned a 3.3 rating, a substantial drop from last week's show. The first hour drew a 3.15 rating and the second hour drew a 3.48 rating.

The show had an average audience of 4.7 million people,  but it's safe to assume those that were not tuned in to RAW were enticed by the Memphis/Kansas NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. It was a great game.

Last night on WWE RAW, the main event for Backlash was set. Here's a look at what else went down...

William Regal begins the evening by coming to the ring and announcing that it will be Randy Orton vs. JBL for the main event at Backlash, with the title on the line. Triple H comes down to the ring and says that he wants in on that bout. So Regal says that if he beats Orton and JBL in a handicapped match, he can get in at Backlash.

A RAW Confrontation

The event, of course, was highlighted by a tribute to Ric Flair.

WWE Results: Monday Night Raw, 3-31-08

Last night's WWE RAW was all about Ric Flair, as it ought to have been. Here's a quick recap of events:

Brian Kendrick vs. Cody Rhodes and Hardcore Holly
Kendrick roll up on Rhodes for the win. Non-title match.

67860581.jpeg Big Show’s music hit and he came out to the ring with a smile on his face. Show came out and congratulated Floyd Mayweather. But he then talked about how much Ric Flair meant to him. He said Flair looked him in the eye this weekend and told him he was the greatest big man he was ever in the ring with. Show almost started to cry.

He talked a bit about being a monster before the Great Khali’s music hit and he came waltzing on down to the ring.

Show demanded he get out of his face. Show backed up and he and Khali squared off. Khali backed down, apparently willing to fight, but only on his terms. So now Big Show is a face?!?

Randy Orton vs. Matt Hardy
Outside the ring Hardy Twist of Fate on Orton. Matt rolls Orton into the ring. As Hardy gets up, Orton comes out of his phony faint for an RKO.
Winner: Randy Orton

Santino Marella vs. Maria Kanellis
Santino earlier insulted all of the WWE Divas, saying that they should just stay home. The match starts and after one knockdown, most of the WWE Divas come down and attack him. Maria dives right between his crotch and gets the roll up.
Winner: Maria

Flair comes to the ring and says he enjoyed the best career in pro wrestling history. He thanks the fans, who then thank him. Triple H comes down to the ring and says that more people want to think him. Out come Tully Blanchard, JJ Dillion, Arn Anderson and Barry Windhan - the 4 Horseman …but that isn't all.

Next out are Batista, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Harley Race, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, John Cena, Ric's wife Tiffany, his kids Reagan, David, Reid, and Ashley, then Shawn Michaels, who gives him a huge hug. From there, all of the wrestlers in the back come down to the ring, chanting “thank you Ric."

Official WWE RAW Preview: Triple H in Charge

Here's the official WWE RAW preview for tonight, courtesy of WWE.com...

After being subjected two weeks in a row to the sadistic whims of others, next week it’s time for The Game to make the rules. And what Triple H has in mind spells nothing but hurt for his WrestleMania XXIV opponents, Randy Orton and John Cena.

Two weeks ago, Raw General Manager William Regal announced a Triple Threat Takeover, allowing each of the three men involved in the WWE Championship Triple Threat Match to arrange their opponents’ bouts for one week. That night, on John Cena’s command, Triple H was forced to battle reigning WWE Champion Randy Orton.

Last week, The Cerebral Assassin was pushed into a match with his WrestleMania XV opponent, Kane, compliments of Orton.

picture-1.jpg

This week, however, Triple H has arranged a match pitting Cena & Orton against the entire Raw roster. (No, really. It’s true!)

What the hell does this mean? Having suffered through two weeks of his opponents’ will, can The Game capture the momentum in the weeks leading up to the greatest stage in all of sports-entertainment?

In other action, Chris Jericho returns to Raw as the new Intercontinental titleholder after defeating former champion Jeff Hardy. The lion-hearted warrior has been salivating to recapture a title he’s held seven times prior. Now that he’s back on top, how will Y2J handle the list of contenders gunning for him?

The bad blood continues to flow between Big Show and his WrestleMania foe Floyd “Money” Mayweather. The animosity between the two flooded the arena last week when The World’s Largest Athlete grabbed the WBC welterweight champion after their weigh-in, lifted him overhead and tossed him over the top rope causing Mayweather to injure his elbow. Will Mayweather be able to continue with their match? If so, how will The Greatest Fighter in the World retaliate?
