Jim Ross Comments on Randy Orton, Backlash Status

Jim Ross has a new blog entry up on his official website (jrsbarbq.com) where he talks about WWE sending Randy Orton home from the company's European tour and Orton's status for Backlash this Sunday:

"Back to the good stuff which this week is Backlash. I fully expect the entire Fatal 4 Way to be intact, including Randy Orton and Edge to go along with HBK and John Cena. Orton, as reported by WWE.com,was sent home from the tour for unprofessional conduct, which I am sure will most likely cost the thirrd generation star some hard-earned cash. Nonetheless, Orton will most likely be in Atlanta Sunday, and if he is not I will be surprised."

It's unknown at this point whether Orton will compete at WWE Backlash this Sunday.

For those who haven't been keeping with the news, Orton was sent home from WWE's European tour last week after reportedly causing $50,000 worth of damage to a hotel room.

WWE Covers Up for Randy Orton Behavior

The RAW taping in London, England last night was supposed to feature Randy Orton vs. Edge, however that did not happen. WWE.com have included the following statement in their recap on the official website:

Although other matches were scheduled for the night, including a contest pitting Edge against Randy Orton, the length of the main event left no room for other battles.

Clearly this is a smokescreen given Orton's actions in Europe last week. He was not present at the RAW taping in England yesterday, and it remains to be seen if he will even feature in the Backlash main-event on Sunday. As always, we will keep you updated with events.

Randy Orton Sent Home From WWE European Tour

WWE sent Randy Orton home from its European Tour over the weekend.

While the company initially announced this was due to a sickness, Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer says Orton actually trashed a hotel room. We'll update this story as we learn more about it.

Randy Orton Makes a Child's Wish Come True

An article in The Daily Tribune - based in Michigan - talks about the charitable efforts of a certain WWE star:

Professional wrestlers can be pretty nice - when they're not beating the pulp out of each other, Justin Negron discovered.

The 11-year-old rubbed elbows some of the biggest names in World Wrestling Entertainment - including his wrestling hero, Randy Orton - during a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Dallas, Texas last month.

The Madison Heights boy and four other members of his family - parents Juan and Josie, and brothers Joshua, 13, and Jesse, 6 - were special guests of the Kids Wish Network, a charity that grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.

Report: Randy Orton Fails Drug Test

The Wrestling-Observer Newsletter is reporting that notes that Randy Orton recently failed a WWE-issued drug test.

Evidently, Orton is one of WWE's "non-suspenOrton's Grand Entrancesions." This would be a reference to the new company wellness policy, which removes the stipulation that a wrestler who fails a drug test will be pulled from the road for thirty days.

The policy was changed in response to the SmackDown! roster scare from two months ago (where numerous wrestlers were diagnosed with a disease) and now calls for superstars to be docked pay and bonuses, as opposed to suffering through a suspension.

Critics, understandably, have attacked WWE's new policy, arguing that it favors business over health. It's hard to argue with this fact when Orton has seemed to receive preferential treatment on WWE RAW for years now.
