Matt Hardy Updates His Blog

Matt Hardy, currently part of the WWE Great Britan tour, took a moment this week to update his MySpace blog:

Hello from Birmingham, England!

Hello my peeps! So sorry i haven’t been able to check in with you guys recently. My schedule the last week or so has been uber-insane! Sooo.. I set aside a few minutes to make it a point to reach out to you guys and say hi. It’s almost 4 a.m. in Birmingham right now-time for me to get a few of those ZZZ’s. I’ve had a great yet challenging trip during the course of this European tour.

I hope my European MFer’s have or will have a chance to make it out to a Smackdown event while I’m here. Can’t wait to get back to a less hectic schedule - gotta train hard - I have a HUGE U.S. Title match coming up at Backlash! I hope everyone’s great and all is good.

The Return of Matt Hardy

Last night at the Smackdown/ECW house show in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, MVP defeated Jimmy Wang Yang. But the real story took place after this match was over.

MVP continued his assualt against Yang until Matt Hardy ran out from the back to make the save. He laid out MVP and grabbed the US Championship belt, looking at it for a few moments before drapping it across MVP's prone body.

Hardy had been out since January, when he was attacked by Randy Orton on WWE RAW as part of the build-up of the Jeff Hardy/Orton match for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.

Matt Hardy Undergoes Surgery; Incident Used in Storyline

Matt Hardy has undergone an emergency appendectomy and will be sidelines for one to three months. As the following announcement on WWE.com shows, the company is incorporating the incident into Hardy's angle with MVP:

TAMPA, Fla. – SmackDown Superstar Matt Hardy underwent an emergency appendectomy at a Tampa area hospital tonight. Doctors expect the surgery to keep Hardy out of action anywhere from 1-3 months.

An appendectomy by definition is the removal of the appendix from the lower right area of the abdomen. Oftentimes, if the surgery is not performed immediately, severe consequences can follow.

Hardy’s emergency surgery comes less than a week after suffering a knee injury at the hands of his former partner, the United States Champion MVP. Did the attack by MVP help lead to the appendectomy that Hardy underwent tonight?

WWE News: Matt Hardy Injured, Cyber Sunday Status Questionable

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that at last night's Friday Night Smackdown taping in Kansas City, Matt Hardy suffered a seven-inch gash that required 35 stitches.

The injury took place during a tag match where Hardy teamed with MVP against Finlay and Rey Mysterio.

We'll keep you updated on the status of Matt's match at Cyber Sunday as we learn more.

Matt Hardy Elaborates on Chris Benoit, Media Coverage

The following is taken from Matt Hardy's most recent MySpace blog...

The first thing I want to mention is how disappointed I am with a majority of the media's coverage of the recent events. There was a terrible tragedy that happened and now the media wants to points the finger of responsibility at our industry. So many people are looking for someone else to take the blame--in a constant attempt to garner ratings on the "hot" story. If it turns out what is currently speculated is what actually happened to Chris Benoit and his family, only one person was ultimately responsible--that being Chris himself. I would suggest it was because Chris Benoit had a mental dysfunction, some sort of mental illness or disease.

Matt on MySpace Any form of life, in any occupation, can eventually reach a point where they became mentally ill because they let their personal and professional issues overtake their sanity. Whatever walk of life you come from, you have to be able to know within yourself when you need help. If you continue to go without help or change when you desperately need it, you'll eventually snap. It's happened to postal workers, factory workers, school kids, people from all walks of life--this time it just happened to be a professional wrestler.

Some of the media have made ridiculous statements and created so many absurd scenarios. Such things as Chris Benoit was demoted by going from "The Four Horsemen to Raw"--and that Nancy Benoit and Sherri Martel passed away on the same day, and were their deaths somehow tied together? Within the WWE we exaggerate stories and have over the top characters--but we admit we're entertainment. It's so irresponsible for some of the media to state such sensationalized stories and give incorrect information--they claim to be reporting factual events to the public.

It's also very odd that so many older wrestlers that haven't been in our locker room in years, some decades--seem to think they're informed of the current habits of today's talent. If they're legitimately trying to make a difference, I can respect and applaud that. But if their motive is to get that fifteen minutes of fame and get their name circulating again, that's not very cool. Regardless of their motivation, they don't know the activities of our generation, the newer generation. The talent has changed. Our generation is so much more responsible and cognizant of their lifestyles and health compared to the generations before.

Does that mean everyone's perfect? Absolutely not. But the talent is so much more disciplined and responsible than the talent from years past. The demographic that the media always speaks about "dying young" is yesterday's generation, not today's. Those numbers will dwindle down in the years to come--I guarantee it.

Matt Hardy Comments on Chris Benoit Tragedy

Matt Hardy posted the following on his MySpace.com blog...

I haven't always agreed with every decision Vince McMahon has made, but I do agree with everything he's done dealing with this situation thus far. Out of respect for the sudden death of Benoit's family and his contributions to the business, I think Vince did the right thing by canceling the scheduled Raw. When the decision was made to make Raw a Chris Benoit tribute show, the WWE was only doing what seemed respectful and right at that time.

At the Doctor When more information was discovered, the WWE took a different and appropriate stance towards their programming. The ECW and Smackdown shows this week were dedicated to our great fans. Wrestling fans who were grieving and confused over this tragedy needed us, including me, to entertain them. I feel it is my responsibility, as well as my pleasure, to put smiles on people's faces and give them an escape from reality. I know Vince feels that way as well.

Chris Benoit was always kind, considerate, and professional when I interacted with him. Like everyone else, I was shocked when everything came out. I can't believe Chris Benoit and his wife and child are dead as I type this. As of now, all of the strange pieces of this puzzle haven't been put together yet. My thoughts and prayers go out to Benoit's other two children as well as the immediate family and friends of the deceased. More than anything, I feel terrible for little Daniel--he was as innocent as any human being could possibly be. This is a terrible and sad tragedy.

I am very disappointed with how many media outlets are lapping the entire population of professional wrestlers into this situation. There are many outstanding, wonderful people that do so many great things for the world that I work and wrestle with. It's not fair or accurate.

Tell the people you love that you love them, and never lose sight of what's really important in life. We may not ever understand why this tragedy happened, but we have to learn from it. Stay strong--life is too precious and too short. I have much more I want to say about the activities of the last few days. If it's appropriate, I definitely will. Be well my friends, I'll talk to you soon...

Matt and Jeff Hardy Updates

  • When WWE decided to reunite the Hardy Boyz, the plan was to put them in a short-term program. But writers had to alter the original plan when the Hardys got over with the fans. With the Hardy’s losing the tag team titles, Matt Hardy is in line for a big push on SmackDown. It’s said to be a long-term soap opera angle as he will defeat mid-carders and then lose to the top guys, while still being over with the fans.

Matt and Jeffy Hardy

  • As far as Jeff Hardy goes, he may be given a prankster type gimmick backstage. The new gimmick could possibly set him up in the Jackass angle planned for Summerslam.
