WWE Rumors: Layla El on Way Out

With the departure of Brooke Adams, the next obvious question relates to the future of Extreme Expose.

It's possible that Adams gets replaced by 2007 WWE Diva Search winner Eve Torres, who has a dance background similar to Layla El because she was a member of the Los Angeles Clippers dance team. But if the group doesn't stay active, the belief is that Layla will be released.

Layla and Kelly Kelly accompanied The Miz to matches at house shows last weekend, but on Tuesday's ECW show, it appeared they were broken up because they wrestled each other. We'll have more on this as it develops.

Layla El, Kelly Kelly and Extreme Expose grace the cover of FHM this month.

Here's an interview with the 2006 WWE Diva Search winner from that issue:

The last time we talked to you was after you won the WWE Diva Search. Whatâs life been like since?
Itâs been crazy. I have done as much in the last year as Iâd normally do in two or three years. Iâve traveled around the world, joined Extreme ExposÃ© and now Iâm shooting for FHM. Itâs been a big roller coaster, but itâs been a great change in my life.

What did you have to go through to win the Diva Search?
It started off as a nationwide competition, then they selected 250 girls to go to L.A. From there it was two or three days of auditions and they picked the top eight. Then it was up to the crowd. We had bikini boot camp, dance contests and a talent competition. They would throw us surprise challenges to see howâd we react. But, at the end of the day, it was up to the fans.

Most fans know you as a dancer with Extreme ExposÃ©. Are you interested in getting in the ring and mixing it up?
I love what Iâm doing now with Extreme ExposÃ©, because itâs how I was brought into the WWE, but of course I want to wrestle. Thatâs where my passion is. When Iâm in the ring, I donât think about anything else. I train and have matches in Florida now and, hopefully, Iâll have an opportunity to get in there and actually wrestle for the WWE.

Did the other WWE Divas give you an initiation?
My first appearance as a WWE Diva was at SummerSlam 2006. I was walking into the locker room and Trish [Stratus] and the other Divas pushed me into the shower, got me wet and spanked me!

Not a bad way to make an entrance. You were a dancer before coming to the WWE, werenât you?
I did work as a dancer. Iâve danced with P. Diddy and Kanye West at the MTV Awards. I also danced with the Miami Heat for two years.

What do you love about your Extreme ExposÃ© partners?
I love the way Brooke can just say whatever she wants. Sheâs a strong person and if you want an honest opinion sheâll give it to you. I love the fact that Kelly is so sweet. Sheâs always smiling. She always wants to have fun. And I also love how she can do gymnastics, because I canât.

Who would win in a triple threat match if Extreme ExposÃ© ever went at it?
The natural answer would be me, but, honestly, I think that would be one tough fight.

Layla El Greets Wrestlemania, WWE Fans

For the third installment of WWE.comâs Superstar to Superstar - others included John Cena talking to Snoop Dogg - 2006 Diva Search winner Layla El took a few minutes to catch up with Erica Durance, a.k.a. Lois Lane on The CWâs hit show Smallville.

Layla: WWE Divas represent strength, independence, beauty, sex appeal and class. How do you think Lois Lane fits into these characteristics?

Erica: When I grew up, one of the things I loved about the Lois Lane character was her independence. The fact that she has this inner strength that basically says, âIf anything goes wrong, Iâm going to turn to myself first. Iâm not a victim. Letâs see how I can get myself out of this.â

Latest WWE Diva, Layla El, Thanks Miami for Victory

First, she was a dancer for the Miami Heat. Next, Layla El will be shaking her thang for Smackdown! audiences across the world.

It's been a wild summer indeed for the Aventura, who won a one-year contract and $250,000 to become the latest WWE Diva. The Miami Herald recently talked with the overwhelmed hottie.

The competition was based on fan voting and support. Layla El said the passionate following in her hometown gave her the ambition to continue.

''The fans in Miami are amazing,'' said El, a native of London, who moved to South Florida three years ago. "I know I did have support in other cities in New York, Tennessee, Minnesota, but definitely South Florida was a big factor in it.''

The WWE Diva Search not only attracted the pro wrestling aficionados, but non-fans as well.

''I don't even like wrestling,'' said Chris Hobbs, a Miami Heat fan, who by chance caught her on television flipping through the channels one night. "However, I love Layla.''

That's the exact goal the WWE was going for when he began the contest. Since the announcement was made before millions of people on August 16, it's been a whirlwind of activity for Layla. She was featured in publications such as Sports Illustrated and made various public appearances throughout the country.

''Life has changed because I'm busy,'' said El, who a few weeks ago began her life on the road as a diva on WWE's Friday night SmackDown!.

"I'm traveling a lot. I'm hardly ever home. I really haven't gotten a chance to sit back and focus.''

El is beginning her training in the ring by spending time with fellow divas, including 2005 Diva Search winner Ashley Massaro, Jillian Hall and Sharmell Sullivan-Huffman.

Three Others Join Layla El as New WWE Divas

Apparently, you don't need to actually win a contest to be named a WWE Diva.

While Layla El won the Diva Search, she'll be joined in the WWE's Ohio Valley Wrestling territory by 8th place finisher Amy Zidian, 7th place finisher Maryse Ouellet and 4th place finisher Milena Roucka.

Maryse and Milena, along with Jen England, were considered near locks for WWE deal. Amy was more of a surprise. Will any of them end up with a career as successful as Torrie Wilson?

Perhaps. But none look like that diva does.

Layla Crowned WWE Diva Search Winner

First, the Miami Heat win the NBA title. Now, a former team dancer is dancer was crowned the winner of the 2006 WWE Diva Search. There must be a perpetual party on South Beach!

Yes, Layla won a $250,000 contract with WWE by receiving the largest combination of text and online votes. The outcome was revealed last night on a televised special, hosted by Todd Grisham and Ashley Massaro.

Michigan's Jen England came in second place, while Arizona native J.T. Tinney rounded out the top three.

Neither of the on-air competitions affected the result, but Layla the all-important lingerie competition, while Jen was the top arm wrestler.

The race to see who can be the next Torrie Wilson is now on!
