Jim Ross Responds to Britney Spears Rumor

There is an article in the Daytona Beach News-Journal with Jim Ross answering questions regarding Wrestlemania 24.

Here is what he has to say on a possible appearance by Britney Spears:

"It's not that other talented albeit 'high-maintenance' females haven't been successful in the past in the WWE, but with Britney's many alleged issues the suggestion of her being a part of WrestleMania 24 might not be wise at this time. She needs to get her life back together, and the WWE would be taking a calculated risk to bring her into such a positive environment like WrestleMania 24.

I have not yet heard of any celeb's being a part of 'Mania, and I am of the personal opinion that the WWE Superstars themselves when put into compelling situations is a better use of corporate funds than investing more into the 'sizzle' than the 'steak' of the event. However, one can also predict that WM24 will not be celeb-free either.

There will likely be many celeb/fans who will be attending simply to enjoy the biggest event of the year."

Jim Ross Blogs About John Cena Return

In his latest blog entry, Jim Ross wrote about the return of John Cena at last week's Royal Rumble:

The biggest news to come out of the weekend was the surprising return of John Cena, who some WWE fans seemingly dislike as much, if not more than they did before John was injured and underwent pec surgery to repair a torn tendon.

As I have said before, when fans pay their hard earned cash they can cheer or boo for whomever the hell they choose. This is certainly not to say that John Cena doesn’t have a legion of fans, because I can tell you from his merchandise numbers that John does.

How did you feel about Cena's return? Let us know now at our latest poll.

Jim Ross Blogs About Jeffy Hardy Push

Jeffy Hardy PhotoAs Jeffy Hardy gets ready for his title shot against Randy Orton at the Royal Rumble this Sunday, Jim Ross has written about the high-flyer's push in his latest blog entry:

Jeff Hardy reminds me of only a few wrestlers who simply got white hot in a matter of weeks and is seemingly only a few steps away from establishing residency in the Promised Land.

The question always is for any athlete is that once one gets there, how long can one stay on hallowed ground?

For the naysayers who are adamant that Hardy will not win Sunday at MSG, I simply say stay tuned as we are in unpredictable waters and Jeff Hardy winning the WWE Title in Madison Square Garden would be one of those lasting “moments” that would live for years.

Hardy may be the underdog Sunday, but so were the NY Giants last Sunday in Green Bay. Just throwing it out there.

Jim Ross on: Chris Jericho, Bobby Lashley Returns

In his latest blog, Jim Ross commented on the returns of two WWE superstars:

On Chris Jericho's Return To RAW: I was extremely pleased to see the return of Chris Jericho to Monday Night Raw. The build up and the final presentation was nicely done. The live crowd in Ft. Lauderdale, albeit some what laid back throughout the night at times seemed to come to life when Chris made his appearance. The introduction of any talent is crucial but not as crucial as the plan going forward on a weekly or regular basis.

It looks like we may be heading for Jericho vs Orton at Armageddon if I had to make a guess. Jericho is a great addition to the locker room. Of course, being an “old schooler” I don’t believe in bringing any talents, rookies or veterans, into a locker room who are going to be disruptive of which Jericho is definitely not. Chris is a credit to the business.

On Bobby Lashley's Return: I don’t know if Bobby Lashley will be back for the Royal Rumble or not as he is still rehabbing his surgically repaired torn labrum. I don’t expect to see Lashley before the first of the year based on how his rehab is progressing. It is a slow process to say the least. Wrestling at the Rumble would be great for Lashley and the fans, but mother nature and Lashley’s own pain threshold will have a lot to say about when Bobby returns. Lashley’s surgery was a major deal.

Jim Ross On: John Cena, Shawn Michaels Return and More

Here is the latest from Jim Ross in his official blog:

On John Cena: John Cena will unfortunately be out of action for 7-12 months it would appear and Cena being back for Wrestlemania seems like a stretch, but I am no doctor, nor am I underestimating John Cena’s work ethic and will to heal, after under going successful pectorial surgery by the skilled hands of Dr. Jim “Saint” Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama. No one, and I mean no one, will work harder than will John Cena to get back better than he ever was after this major surgery, so any one of us that puts time limit restrictions on Cena aren’t using our best judgment.

The “Cena haters” and the anti Cena proponents, I assume, are happy that Cena is off their TV sets for now, but most will retort with the same old, worn out response of “I just wanted someone else to be champion.” Oh well, to each his own I suppose.

On Shawn Michaels Return: Shawn Michaels return to Raw Monday was a huge surprise and man did the live crowd, who were super all night, in Grand Rapids, Michigan ever respond accordingly. HBK has been sorely missed as his leadership and maturity in the locker room is a great asset with such a young group of Raw superstars currently competing. I assume HBK will be in the UK this Monday for Raw much to the chagrin of Randy Orton, the new WWE Champion.

HBK is feeling great and is as competitive as ever. If there is a man in the WWE with more passion and desire to steal every show on which he appears, I would love to meet him and give him a well deserved attaboy. There is, without fail, some superstars with HBK-level passion but that list is short and very exclusive.

On Jeff Hardy/Mr. Kennedy Rivalry: It looks like a nice rivalry is evolving between IC Champ Jeff Hardy and Mr. Kennedy. I am interested in this matchup and feel both these two men are going to play a major part in the long term growth of the Raw brand. Both Hardy and Kennedy had their fair share of fans in Grand Rapids Monday night, which always makes for an interesting presentation. I should have most likely done a better job identifying the Kennedy fans’ chants in hindsight in Grand Rapids.

Jim Ross Comments on Edge, Shelton Benjamin and More

Here are a few highlights from Jim Ross' latest blog entry...

Jim Ross On Edge's Absence: Edge is greatly missed in the WWE without question. Before Edge was injured he was at the top of his game and was as good as any one in the business. Edge’s return will be a big boost for the WWE and their fans. I only hope that Edge does not try to rush things and that he is able to come back at north of 199%.

Jim Ross On A Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle Match
: If given the chance to call or watch a Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle match I would definitely say “call it.” That way I am totally immersed and emotionally invested in the presentation and it becomes a true lasting memory. It would be a helluva match to say the least.

Jim Ross On Shelton Benjamin's Potential: Everyone close to Shelton Benjamin has huge expectations for him because he is such a magnificent athlete. I firmly believe in Shelton and feel he could be headlining PPVs some day if he continues to produce.

Jim Ross On Kane: Kane is a big time player and has proved that many times over the years. Kane just needs to have a spotlight shined on him and put in the right position to make an impact and he has the tools to be right where you want him to be. For me, the masked Kane persona was one of the best.

WWE Rumors: Jim Ross on His Way Out?

The contract of Jim Ross is about to expire. WWE rumors have made it sound as though the long-time announcer is on his way out of the company.

Ross responded to this talk in his latest blog:

"I am in hopes of re-signing with the WWE and talks are on going. I don’t see any immediate issues on the negotiation horizon. This is another story that has taken a life of its own and many internet sites have written about it as if they know exactly what is going on, but none of them have talked to me about it, which should illustrate that there are times when some sites simply take a rumor and run with it as fact.

My goal is to continue to work for the WWE, but if that were not to work out, I still have plenty to do to keep me busy. My wrestling career has been a blessed one that I would have never envisioned over 30 years ago, but all things have to come to an end at some point. Our Bar-B-Q biz is going to continue to grow as we hope to start rolling out more store stores in 2008 and plan on building several stores over the next few years."

Jim Ross Talks About Candice Michelle, CM Punk, Samoa Joe and More

Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRsbarbq.com. Here are highlights from it:

On Candice Michelle: Candice Michelle is improving immensely and in relationship from where she started to where she is now is excellent progress. Candice is the hot, diva du jour these days or at least until she meets Beth Phoenix at Unforgiven. I am impressed with Candice’s work ethic and willingness to learn.

On HBK Return: I have not heard a definitive date on HBK’s return, but I assume it will be in or around November. I hear Shawn is healing well but still has significant work to do before he is able to step back in the ring and be Shawn Michaels. We really miss HBK on Raw I can assure you but I hope he doesn’t rush his return and can be 100% healthy when he does come back.

On CM Punk: I am a fan of CM Punk’s in ring style and his approach to the business. Punk has a great future ahead of him, it would seem, and let’s hope Punk can avoid the injury bug and poor decisions that his peers often make.

On Samoa Joe: As it relates to Samoa Joe, I have no idea of Joe’s contractual status or his plans for the future. I do wish him well and feel he is a talented young man who has a ton of potential. For me to comment about Joe in the WWE would not be fair for anyone involved but it is safe to say that Samoa Joe will do well where ever he is competing as long as he is healthy as his style may not be “tenure friendly.”

Jim Ross Talks About Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, John Cena

Jim Ross has updated his blog again. Here's what the WWE announcer had to say on a number of topics...

On Shawn Michaels: HBK definitely has the opportunity to be a WWE Champion, etc again once he is healthy and back at it. I would be shocked if HBK was not a WWE Champion again before he hangs it up. I don’t expect for HBK to be “back at it” for several weeks as I don’t expect him to be able to begin training until the end of August or the early part of September. His eventual return is TBD.

On Bret Hart: I would never say never about Bret ever appearing on a WWE TV show, as a non wrestler of course, but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one. “Highly unlikely” would be my guess.

On John Cena: I never said John Cena will never be an antagonist because I don’t know the answer to that matter. Obviously some folks don’t like Cena’s persona which is fine. Some do which is also fine. John sells tickets and merchandise which helps the other talents and the company which is definitely fine. How the WWE decided to utilize John’s skills is up to them. I am much more concerned about who starts at Oklahoma at QB this season than this Cena matter of “what ifs” and “whys.”

Jim Ross On: Kurt Angle Return, John Cena Bashers

On his official blog, here's what Jim Ross had to say about Kurt Angle and those that rudely diss John Cena:

On Possible Kurt Angle Return: Will Kurt Angle ever return to the WWE questions have been popping up lately. Last I looked, Kurt had a job with a lesser schedule, which I feel fits him better than being on the road even though the WWE schedule is 4 days on and 3 days off, if one is booked full time. The days of the “I worked over 300 days a year” song and dance have long since passed which, honestly, is a really good thing.

I am not in charge of WWE bridges so for me to say if Kurt has burned his bridge or not with the WWE would be a guess and not my place. Personally, I would say he has not, but again, I am down in Oklahoma selling Bar-B-Q and not managing talent relations of which I am eternally thankful.

On John Cena Haters: Cena haters, adults especially, but any one dropping “F-Bombs” at John Cena or anyone else at a wrestling event is a classless, gutless, jerk. Using profane language in the presence of women and children is unacceptable in my view. Violators should be tossed if they are heard spewing such garbage. If parents allow their kids to have dirty mouths because they think their kids are cute when they curse, are not good parents.

I feel fans should be able to boo who in the heck they want and even write posters indicating such, as I think that makes for good, organic, TV but overt profanity in a public gathering dotted with families is not the place to use foul language. Sometimes I th
