WWE Results: ECW, 7-15-08

To begin ECW, Mark Henry comes down to the ring accompanied by Tony Atlas. Tazz asks why last week’s events went down as they did. Atlas says that he would graciously carry Mark Henry’s bags, much to the crowd’s booing.

Atlas invites a young man from the crowd in to see if he can bend a frying pan. Ted, as he seems to be named, tries and fails. Mark Henry contorts the frying pan into a roll. That is actually quite impressive.

- Mike Knox beat Shannon Moore. Knox used his nameless finisher and scored the pin.

- Evan Bourne pinned Chavo Guerrero (w/Bam Neely). Before the match, a pretaped Evan promo aired. He said he'll defy the odds in this match because he defies gravity. Ugh. Evan tried to go up top early, but Chavo caught him and knocked him off the top rope. Bourne took a nice bump by slamming his head into the ring apron on the way down. Shooting star press ends it.

Backstage, Colin Delaney walked talking Teddy's assistant when Henry and Atlas interrupted. Atlas told Colin he didn't have to worry because they knew he had nothing to do with what happened earlier. Henry walked away, but it was too good to be true for Colin. Henry stormed back into the picture and choked Delaney.

Matt and Jeff Hardy beat John Morrison and The Miz in a non-title match. Plenty of Hardy chants from the women and kids in the crowd. After some back and forth action, the show cut to commercial. The tag champs worked over Jeff for a while until he made the hot tag to Matt.

The match really picked up down the stretch. Matt hit a crucifix powerbomb on Morrison for a nearfall. Miz ran in and was greeted with the Side Effect. Morrison recovered and performed Moonlight Drive on Matt. Jeff came off the top with a Swanton Bomb on Morrison and Matt scored the pin for his team..

WWE Results: ECW. 7-8-08

Last night, on ECW...

John Morrison and The Miz head towards the ring for the first segment of the night. Morrison introduces himself and states that he isn’t giving any hurricane relief to the crowd. Finlay comes out says that nobody wants to hear what they want to say. Miz and Morrison turn around and Hornswoggle sprays them with a water gun. Hornswoggle rolls out of the ring. Miz and Morrison recover and chase after him. Morrison runs right into Finlay who gives him a clothesline while Miz runs his way up the ramp.

Finlay vs. The Miz
Finlay whips Miz into the corner and goes for a clothesline. Miz moves out of the way and rolls Finlay up for a pin attempt for a two count. Miz whips Finlay into a corner and hits a shining wizard. The referee pulled Miz back away from Finlay and the Miz starts to complain.

Finlay grabs the Shillelagh and Morrison sees Finlay and takes the Shillelagh away from Finlay. Hornswoggle comes to Finlay’s aide and dropkicks Morrison on the face and helps Finlay out. Miz grabs a hold of Hornswoggle but Finlay sets Miz up for the Celtic cross. Finlay goes for the pin and gets the three count!
Winner: Finlay

We cut backstage. Teddy Long and Tiffany start to talk. Armando comes in the room demanding his job back. Braden Walker - formerly Chris Harris from TNA Wrestling - walks into the room and Teddy states that he will get another chance to get it back and all he has to do is beat Walker.

Braden Walker vs. Armando Estrada
Braden gets to the top rope and connects with a diving cross body. Braden goes for the pin and gets the three count.
Winner: Braden Walker

Match rating: The match was great and pretty good to watch. I think that Braden is going to be a great addition to the ECW roster and will continue to improve. The match gets 2.5 out of 5 stars.

We cut backstage. Tony Atlas and Long talk backstage. Long offers Atlas to be the special ring announcer to the main event tonight for some extra cash and Atlas accepts.

Evan Bourne vs. Nunzio
Bourne gets to the top rope and hits a shooting star press and gets the three count.

Winner: Evan Bourne

Mark Henry vs. Tommy Dreamer
Atlas shows up and tries to protect Delaney. Atlas then throws Delaney into the announce table. Dreamer shows up and starts to question Atlas. Henry then picks Dreamer up for the world’s strongest slam. The referee calls for the bell and Atlas goes into the ring. Atlas announces that the winner of the match is Mark Henry!

ECW Rating Rises

ECW on Sci Fi drew a final 1.4 cable rating this week. The figure is a big increase from last week's 1.2 rating and one of the larger ratings the show has received since late March.

There's no way this can be due to an interest in Mark Henry as champion... can it?!?

Atlas Ortiz made his televised debut on ECW last night. Formerly Atlas Dabone of OVW and FCW, he began his training in 2006 and was offered a developmental deal by WWE and immediately assigned to OVW.

Here's what else went down on the show...

- Opens with Mark Henry coming out and saying he is the savior of ECW. Tommy Dreamer comes out along with Colin Delaney and they challenge Henry to a title match. He tells them they have to earn it. Colin Delany vs. Mark Henry later tonight. If Delaney wins, Dreamer gets a title shot.

- Matt Hardy, Finlay, and Hornswoggle def. Chavo Guerrero, The Miz, & John Morrison.

- Atlas Ortiz def. Armando Estrada.

- Mark Henry def. Colin Delaney.

Hooray! We get to be treated to numerous Mark Henry squashes to show just how strong and scary he is. What did you think of this week's ECW?

The Official ECW Previews: 7-1-08

With WWE obviously intent on shaking things up - yes, CM Punk really is the new champion on Raw - what will ECW have in store for us tonight? Courtesy of WWE.com, here's the official preview...

It was an incredible Night of Champions for the World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry, who overcame the onslaught of the Big Red Machine Kane and the World’s Largest Athlete Big Show in a Triple Threat Match to bring the ECW Championship back to the Land of the Extreme.

Kane showed tremendous fortitude as he fought through an injury during the match, suplexing the gigantic Big Show off the top rope. But, while both men were feeling the effects of the devastating move, Henry splashed his way in, picking up both the win and the gold.

With Big Show still a SmackDown Superstar and Kane drafted over to Monday Night Raw, who will dare challenge the gigantic new ECW champion?

Newly-drafted United States Champion Matt Hardy made an extremely strong statement by defeating the self-proclaimed “Mexican Warrior” Chavo Guerrero.

After Guerrero grabbed the No. 1 contender’s spot thanks to his aunt, SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero, Hardy stopped him in his tracks, hitting the Twist of Fate. Will Guerrero come back for more? Or, will Matt Hardy find new prey on Tuesday nights?

WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison retained their titles in a whirlwind match against the father-son duo of Finlay and Hornswoggle, which ended with Morrison hurling Hornswoggle from the top rope to pick up the win. Will the brawler from Belfast and his son s

WWE Results: ECW, 6-3-08

A new General Manager was named on ECW last night. Here's what else went down...

Backstage, crew members were removing items from the general manager's office. Armando Estrada told them to stop. They claimed the general manager told them to remove the items. Armando told them that he is the general manager - but then Teddy Long showed up and said, "Not anymore, player..."

CM Punk defeated John Morrison and Tommy Dreamer and Chavo Guerrero in a four-way match. The winner faces Kane in a non-title match later in the show. Good rapid fire action. In the end, Punk hit the GTS on Chavo and scored the clean pin.

Backstage, Teddy showed Armando a letter from the board of directors that named him the new general manager. Teddy said Armando was making too much money to be an active wrestler and a general manager. Armando begged Teddy to work with him. Teddy booked Armando in a match against Matt Hardy.

Shelton Benjamin defeated Matt Sydal by countout. Kofi Kingston sat in on commentary and the announcers recapped his recent history with Shelton.

Shelton regained control of the match and tossed Sydal to ringside in front of Kofi. Shelton walked to ringside and had a staredown with Kofi. Shelton went back to the match and Kofi sat down. Benjamin picked up Sydal in a powerbomb position and tossed him onto Kofi behind the announcers desk. Shelton won via countout. Afterward, Kofi went on the attack, but Benjamin whipped him into the ring steps.

Matt Hardy squashed Armando Estrada. Total squash. Hardy won with the Twist of Fate. After the match, Teddy Long walked out and announced that he was giving Armando one more chance to prove that he was worth the money he was paying himself.

Colin Delaney pinned Armando Estrada. Colin rolled up Armando for a nearf all to open the match. Just 30 seconds later, he rolled him up again for the win. Hardy celebrated with Colin after the match.

Kane defeated CM Punk in a non-title match. CM Punk clotheslined Punk to ringside, but Kane landed on his feet, pulled Punk to ringside, and punched him. Cool spot. Kane dominated the rest of the action before the break.

Kane clubbed Punk with a big clothesline and then worked in a rare submission hold. Later, Punk nailed Kane with three knees in the corner. He went for a bulldog, but Kane blocked it scored a nearfall. Later, Kane went for the chokeslam, but Punk caught him with a kick. A short time later, Punk went for the GTS, but he couldn't get Kane up due to a sore shoulder. Kane chokeslammed Punk and scored the clean pin.

After the match, John Morrison and The Miz ran out and attacked Kane. Miz rolled Punk, who was still selling the chokeslam, to ringside. The tag champs avoided a double chokeslam attempt and left Kane laid out following the Reality Check from Miz.

WWE Results: ECW, 5-27-08

Our thanks to PWTorch.com, here are last night's ECW results...

The Big Show vs. Tommy Dreamer

The Big Show Show dominated the first two minutes until Dreamer took out the knee with a dropkick. Dreamer tried a move from the second rope, but Show smashed him in mid-air with a double axehandle to the face. Show then finished him off with a big chokeslam for the pin and the win.

Winner: Big Show

Ringside: Shelton Benjamin was with Adamle and Tazz to discuss his one-on-one victory over Kofi last week. They showed clips of Shelton's match and then Kofi Kingston came to the ring, prompting a "Jamaican me crazy" line from Adamle. How original.

Mike Knox vs. Kofi Kingston
Kofi jumped around the ring to start things off, but Knox quickly grounded him with power offense. Kofi fought back with a series of kicks, then he nailed a forearm smash that busted open Knox hard-way around the left eye. Knox missed with a corner splash and took a back soccer kick to the face, then Kofi nailed the Jamaican buzzsaw kick to the head for the win.

Post-match: Shelton tried to jump Kofi, but Kofi fought back. They had a brawl in the ring with Kofi on the advantage until Knox clotheslined Kofi from behind and nailed the Knox Out corkscrew facebuster to silence Kingston

CM Punk vs. Chavo Guerrero
Punk teased the G2S in the opening seconds, which sent Chavo to the floor to regroup. Punk much more charismatic tonight to start things off. Certainly helps that he can get a little shine in the opening minutes rather than instantly taking a beating in a match. Chavo then cut off Punk and slapped on a chinlock. They suddenly cut to break.

Back from commercial, Punk flipped Chavo over the top rope to the floor. Punk tried to measure Chavo for a dive to the floor, but Bam pulled down the back rope behind the ref's back that took Punk to the floor. Back in the ring, Chavo settled into a mat-based attack on Punk's back while the crowd tried to rally behind Punk. Punk broke free with a roundhouse kick, but Chavo countered a move off the ropes into a rolling half-Boston crab. Excellent move. Punk fought the hold, then reached the bottom rope for a break at 10:00.

Chavo followed with two of the three amigos suplexes, but Punk turned the third into a G2S attempt. Only, Chavo blocked and rolled into a head scissors takeover for a nearfall. Moments later, Punk tried the high knee smash in the corner, but Chavo ducked and rolled up Punk with a hook of the tights for the pin and the win.
Winner: Chavo Guerrero

Kane vs. The Miz and Morrison
Tag champs quickly ganged up on Kane to start things off. They landed a double clothesline, but Kane came back with a top rope clothesline on Miz. Morrison got involved, but they blocked a double chokeslam and attacked Kane. Referee Scott Armstrong called for a DQ when the champs failed to tag in and out of the ring.
Winner: Kane

CM Punk stormed the ring and helped even the odds for Kane. Chavo Guerrero then spilled out. Tommy Dreamer joined the show. The faces were in control, then Big Show's music hit and Show walked out for a repeat of last week's ending. Show cleaned house with frying-pan chops to the chest before it came down to Show and Kane standing tall in the ring.

WWE Results: ECW, 5-20-08

Last night, on ECW...

The Miz defeated Kane by disqualification in a non-title match. Miz said he had a headache and concussion because he was chokeslammed to the floor at Judgment Day. He called himself the co-star of the “highest rated show on WWE.com.” He said he would do tonight what Morrison will do at One Night Stand: beat Kane.

Kane hit the top rope closeline. He tried for the Chokeslam but was unable to pull it off. He put Miz in the tree of woe, exited the ring, and pulling on Miz’s neck. The referee disqualified Kane because he did not break the count.

Shelton Benjamin defeated Kofi Kingston. Kofi was seated on top of Shelton in an Electric Chair position, but reversed it into what could best be described as a one legged hurricarana.

Kofi jumped onto Shelton in the corner, but Shelton carried Kofi and dropped him leg first on the top turnbuckle. He worked on the injured leg. Kofi hit a huge dropkick but it did more harm than good. Shelton turned the “Boom Boom Boom” into a schoolboy for a nearfall. Kofi tried the Trouble in Paradise but missed and Shelton hit his finisher, sort of a jumping Mic Check, for the pin.

Colin Delaney and Kelly Kelly defeated Mike Knox and Layla. Layla threw Kelly Kelly over the ropes, but she sort of skinned the cat, grabbing Layla with a head scissors and pulling her to the outside. Knox came in and threw Colin about 25 feet into the air. Out of nowhere, Kelly pinned Layla.

Knox laid Colin out with his finisher. Armando Estrada’s music hit and he came to the ring. He told the referee to ring the bell for an official match…

Armando Estrada defeated Colin Delaney. Estrada hit the reverse front suplex for the win right away.

Chavo Guerrero and John Morrison defeated C.M. Punk and Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer and Morrison started. Dreamer hit a big faceplant, followed by Ricky Steamboat like armdrags on both Morrison and Chavo. Punk tagged in and hit a nice delayed vertical suplex for the nearfall. Chavo tagged in and both men worked on Punk. Morrison hit an Electric Chair on Punk on the floor.

Tommy finally got the hot tag. He hit a pump handle suplex and a DDT before the pin was broken up. Punk got rid of Morrison, but Chavo was able to hit the frogsplash on Tommy for the win.

Immediately following the three count, Big Show’s music hit and he came to the ring. He chokeslammed Chavo and Punk. He hit the cobra clutch swinging slam on Morrison. He grabbed the microphone and said since he is a former ECW Champion, he is entering himself into the match at the PPV.

Wow. They really have no story line at all for The Big Show, huh?

WWE Results: ECW, 5-13-08

Here's a rundown of ECW on Sci-Fi last night...

The Miz defeated CM Punk. Late in the match, Punk went for the GTS, but Miz slipped out and hit the Reality Check for the win. Afterward, Morrison walked onto the stage and hugged Miz.

Kelly Kelly and Michelle McCool and Cherry defeated Victoria and Natalya and Layla. There were some good spots when Michelle and Victoria were in the ring together. In the end, Cherry rolled up a distracted Victoria for the surprise win.

Backstage, Lena Yada interviewed Shelton Benjamin, who said Kofi Kingston "walks around with a horseshoe stuck where the sun don't shine and I'm going to pull it out." Kofi confronted Shelton. Benjamin shoved Kofi, who responded with a weird looking shoulder tackle that left Benjamin lying on the ground.

Mike Knox squashed Colin Delaney. Colin finally got his entrance music. The match was all Knox, who finished off Delaney with his finisher. Afterward, Armando walked out and announced that he had just signed himself to a lucrative wrestling contract. He kicked Colin and demanded that the referee ring the bell to start their match.

Armando Estrada defeated Colin Delaney. Adamle referred to Armando as "the calculating Cuban." Quick squash. Delaney was bleeding from the nose after the match.

John Morrison (w/The Miz) defeated Kane in a non-title match. Miz was a nuisance to Kane early on, so CM Punk walked to ringside to stand in the corner of his Judgment Day partner just before the break. Morrison worked over the left knee injury that Kane has been selling ever since Chavo attacked it with a chair the week before Backlash.

The Official ECW Preview

Here's a preview of tonight's ECW on Sci-Fi, courtesy of WWE.com...

After picking up a historic win on ECW’s 100th Episode, Colin Delaney will at long last sign a contract to become the Land of the Extreme’s newest Superstar on the next ECW on SciFi. The persistence and passion has finally paid off for Delaney whose dreams came true after defeating General Manager Armando Estrada.

But will the youngster with a small stature, but a big heart, have what it takes to be a success in ECW? How will Delaney match up to his fellow Extreme Superstars? And what will Estrada have in store for Delaney?

ECW Champion Kane joined forces with CM Punk to defeat Chavo Guerrero & Bam Neely in tag team action. Mr. Money in the Bank delivered a devastating G.T.S. to Guerrero for the win as WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison looked on.

The Big Red Machine and the Straightedge Superstar are an Extreme force when paired together – how will these two Superstars leave their mark in the Land of the Extreme? And when will Punk cash in his Money in the Bank privileges?

Kofi Kingston remains undefeated in ECW action after defeating Matt Striker on Tuesday as Shelton Benjamin offered guest commentary. But after defeating “Your Teacher,” Benjamin stormed into the ring to attack Kingston, leaving him face-down on the mat.

Has Kingston finally met his match? Will the “Gold Standard” be able to stop the Jamaican Superstar’s winning streak?

Finally, Mick Foley will also make his return to ECW and Matt Striker’s Classroom next week. What will transpire between the Hardcore Legend and “Your Teacher”? What does the SmackDown color commentator have in store for the Land of the Extreme?
