Bill Goldberg Lays into TNA Wrestling

Bill Goldberg recently appeared on Live 105.3 in Texas.

He had the following to say about TNA Wrestling:

"TNA totally blows, man. I don't think they have a clue as to what people want to see, I think. They've got a very clouded vision. Right after the Chris Benoit death, WWE and TNA had an opportunity to 'make it right.' They had an opportunity, they had everyone's attention and what does TNA do? They go out and sign 'Pacman' Jones.

That in itself, in a nutshell, describes TNA's mentality. That as a viable option for Goldberg? Absolutely not. Those guys don't deserve to have me on their program."

Bill Goldberg Comments on TNA Wrestling

Goldberg Will Bill Goldberg be joining TNA Wrestling? The former WCW and WWE star recently commented on the possibility:

"If they were smart, they would give me what I want because it would put them on the planet. That’s all I have to say. That doesn’t take anything away from the guys there like Kurt Angle and Sting and those guys. But if they were smart, they would give me what I wanted to put them on the map. If they want to be a competitor with Vince, there’s only one of three options [wrestling talent] – me, [Brock Lesnar] and God only knows who the other one is.

That’s the reality of it. I don’t think I’m being greedy, but if they want to put asses in seat and fill stadiums, I can do it. I’m realistic. If I put more asses in seats, I deserve more money. That’s simple and a really easy equation. If [TNA] were smart, they would make me happy and let me do what I want to do. Obviously they’re not, so good riddance."

Bill Goldberg Acknowledges Interest in TNA Wrestling

Former WCW and WWE Champion Bill Goldberg recently spoke out about possibly joining TNA.

Goldberg said that at his age he realizes he is too old to fight in a MMA promotion; however he has not ruled out professional wrestling. The former champion said he would go to TNA Wrestling for the right offer, but as of right now they haven’t came “anywhere close.”

We'll have more as this develops.

Bill Goldberg to TNA Wrestling: Stop Using My Name

Bill Goldberg Bill Goldberg recently spoke out in an article in the Miami Herald, talking about Showtime’s Mixed Martial Arts Company, Elite XC.

In the piece, Goldberg expressed his frustration with TNA Wrestling for using his name.

''If it wasn't for a phone call from Brock Lesnar, I wouldn't have known about that,'' said Goldberg. "Brock said, `You know that they are using our name again.' I told him it pisses you off to a point because you see people capitalizing on your name, and it benefits you in absolutely no way, except for the fact that it keeps the name out there.

If it were not for wrestling, I wouldn't be doing this Showtime gig and the Spike TV gig, because as many bad things that were associated with it, that profession kind of put me on the map. I owe a lot to it, and I owe the fans even more, but it pisses me off as a promotion that somebody would do that. That is no big deal. It just gives me more of a reason to beat the hell out of them even more.''

Goldberg, who will be doing color commentary for EliteXC, noted that at the age of 40, his days inside the ring are likely over.

"...my days of putting those skinny tights on, whether it be for wrestling or fighting, are pretty much over with,'' said Goldberg. and say `Ok, I'm going to fight.'''

Bill Goldberg Update: Law & Order Bound

Former WCW and WWE World Champion Bill Goldberg will be appearing on NBC drama Law & Order: SVU on February 6th. The former champion will be playing a character by the name of “Cupid." The show was filmed this past November in New York City.

Bill Goldberg to Host Reality Show on Spike TV

When it was announced that Spike TV has signed Bill Goldberg to a contract, many assumed it was to wrestle in TNA.

Evidently, however, it was to host a reality show instead.

The former WCW and WWE champion will be in charge "Bullrun," which pits 12 two-driver, one-vehicle teams in a 3,000-mile-plus rally across the country.

The show will be Goldberg’s second car-related program; he hosted “Automaniac” on The History Channel during summer 2005.

TNA President Comments on Kurt Angle, Bill Goldberg

We never thought we'd write about TNA wrestling so much. Then, the company went out and signed Kurt Angle.

Here's what president, Dixie Carter, had to say about that and other happenings in the brand:

Angle in TNA On reaction to negative feedback to Kurt Angle coming to TNA:
"Am I shocked by some of the negative response? I’m more saddened by it – for Kurt. I know this has hurt him very much. TNA would never sign a talent, or allow a talent to be in a situation to harm themselves more than the risk each of these guys takes every time they step into the ring.

I truly believe that every TNA wrestler, referee, broadcaster and front-office employee knows that their health and their family come first. TNA is their livelihood, and they are all very passionate about it, but it is still just a job."

On Kurt Angle's current medical condition:
"I have personally met with Kurt and his wife. All past medical and pain medication issues have been addressed in depth and to my satisfaction. We have assembled a team of doctors around Kurt to monitor past injuries and also oversee his health on an ongoing basis."

On TNA wrestling's drug policy:
"TNA Wrestling has a very strict drug and alcohol policy, and each contracted talent signs an acknowledgement of the policy set forth. Drug use and alcohol abuse are issues we take very seriously. TNA has the right to conduct random drug-tests and other tests in accordance with government requirements. Violations of the policy are spelled out and failure to comply or failure of a test can result in mandatory drug counseling and treatment, suspension from work without pay, up to and including dismissal."

Ever in TNA?

If Kurt Angle's signing to TNA helped iMPACT! move to primetime on Spike TV:
"The deal to move to prime-time on SpikeTV was done prior to signing Kurt. One thing I think is so great about Kurt is that he wanted to be a part of TNA without even knowing that the company was moving to prime-time. He wanted to make that leap because he knew the potential was there and he wanted to be part of making it happen. That’s how much he wants to be a part of TNA."

On the possibility of Bill Goldberg coming to TNA:
"Bill has a lot of exciting things going on in his career right now. TNA would be the perfect place for him to continue those pursuits while stepping back in the ring to write one last chapter of a storied wrestling career. Bill is very talented and he would be another great addition to our roster."

Kurt Angle is NOT Going to TNA ... but is Bill Goldberg?

We rarely post about TNA. We just don't consider it any sort of competition to the WWE at the moment.

However, rumors are running wild that the major announcment at the upcoming TNA pay-per-view involves the signing of Kurt Angle. Therefore, we had to speak up and clarify: Ain't gonna happen!

TNA Logo

First of all, Angle is still, well, angling to get back into the WWE. He's proposed ideas for Wrestlemania and is looking at this as time off before he does return to Vince McMahon's wing. He won't go work for a competitor.

Moreover, he can't!

There's a no-compete clause in Angle's contract that means he can't wrestle for TNA until March anyhow.

The announcement, instead, may focus on Bill Goldberg signing with the company. Or - prepare yourself for this excitement, folks - the confirmation of a two-hour timeslot for TNA. That would be truly major, indeed.
