Torrie Wilson: Done Wrestling?

Sad news for those that were looking forward to the next WWE Diva lingerie match involving Torrie Wilson:

Back surgeons have told the knockout never to set foot in a wrestling ring again. Here's what Wilson wrote on her MySpace blog this week:

"I have been told by 2 back surgeons that I should never set foot in a wrestling ring again if I want to be moving around in a few years on my own. Pretty depressing if you ask me."

Lost in Thought

We may have seen the last of Torrie Wilson inside a WWE ring.

She continued:

"My health is doing ok as far as back problems. I must say there are days that I wake up and ask myself why the heck I put my body through what I did the last few years but it's all worth it. I can never trade all of the awesome experiences that I have had in the WWE and of course all of the great life long friends that I have made along the way."

Paul Heyman: High on Himself, Down on ECW Brand

Paul Heyman PhotoPaul Heyman has a rather high opinion of his booking ability, according to a recent interview in The Miami Herald.

"I absolutely believe I can out-book anyone in the industry today, but it's a one-brand business right now," Heyman said. "That brand runs differently than the type of writing and mechanisms that I use. I have no bitterness about the wrestling industry. I've lived out every dream and had the time of my life. But it wasn't fun anymore. My time was up."

Heyman also commented on WWE continuing to use the ECW name.

"You can cry all day long that the show is not ECW and shouldn't be called ECW," he said. "But it's (WWE's) product. They bought it and have every right to do what they want with it. There's nothing you can do about it, so why get upset over it? I'm not emotionally attached to the letters because there's nothing to be attached to anymore."

What do you think? Is Paul Heyman the best wrestling booker alive?

A Recap of the Samoa Joe Conference Call

Samoa Joe was featured in the Spike TV/TNA Wrestling monthly conference call. Here are a few highlights from it:

Samoa Joe - Said he hopes Sunday's match will be a pro wrestling match. He said Kurt Angle has been lobbying management for an MMA match, but at the end of the day it's still pro wrestling. He later said they will push the boundaries.

- Joe said he's reaching the end of his TNA contract they still have a few things to work out.

-  Said he likes Kevin Nash a lot more now than he did the first time he met him.

- Identified A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels as two of his favorite opponents. He also put over his past matches with Kenta Kobashi and Homicide.

- Said winning the TNA title would represent opportunity. He wants the opportunity to prove he can make Samoa Joe work in a national company.

- "I'm overly excited about the TNA video game," Joe said. He said he's never been a big fan of the WWE game and believes they've come up with a better product.

- Regarding the match stipulation that he has to leave pro wrestling if he loses on Sunday: "I was thinking about hiring myself out as a sparring partner around my neighborhood."

Triple H on Idol Gives Back

Triple H was his intimidating self on the American Idol special fundraiser last night, Idol Gives Back. This time, though, The Game wasn't threatening an opponent with a sledge hammer.

He was encouraging viewers to donate to charity. Big difference there.

Jim Ross On: Future of WWE, John Cena and More

Jim Ross has updated his official blog. Here are highlights from it:

On who JR sees "leading the charge" for WWE in the next five years: Randy  Orton, Edge, Burke, MVP, Kennedy, CM Punk, to name a few guys I think are good now and should be really good in "5 years." The developmental area has some studs and they will be stars if they aren’t "picked too green.

John Cena: "I would be willing to wager that the mere mention of John Cena, who, as best I know, will only be on the Monday Night Raw show in London in between filming a movie in New Orleans for the WWE, will flood arenas with boos, but at the end of the day Cena will still sell more merchandise than any other WWE Superstar who is on the tour in its entirety."

The Shawn Michaels vs. Batista Feud: "A personal issue is what is evolving between Shawn Michaels and Batista and neither have to change their present persona’s to make it work. I keep reading where one or the other and mostly Batista is going to "turn on HBK" but I don’t see that happening.

I love surprises as most wrestling fans do, but I think these two men can have their match or matches and HBK will have his fans, as will Batista, but I do expect The Animal to hear more boos than will Shawn. I’m personally invested and interested in this issue."

Santino Marella Discusses Wrestling, Comedy

Santino Marella recently spoke with The Miami Herald about life in the WWE. In the article, Santino talks about developing his own style.

''Anybody, you have to be in condition,'' he said. "You have moves and stuff. For example, if I just get there and I'm wrestling Umaga, I don't have any patented moves. It just has to be generic until you establish those things. They can't be established on day one. It's a little tougher that way."

Santino Marella

Also, regarding comedy in the industry, Santino said:

"There's more than just the comedy. I love wrestling. I love grappling. I love submissions and smashing people. Ultimately, that's going to come out because that's part of me. So there's a part of me in Santino, but there's also a part of me that's a grappler. I think as time goes that will permeate through."

WWE Spoilers: Smackdown Results, 4-11-08

6814424.jpeg WWE Smackdown as taped in Boston Tuesday night. Here are the results that will air tomorrow night...

The Great Khali calls out Big Show. Yawn. Big Show comes out and the translator tells him of a peace offering. First offering is a large bottle of fresh water; next, they uncover a bird cage with a chicken in it. They tell Big Show he will never go hungry again because of the eggs he'll enjoy from it. Is this segment serious?

Finally, they uncover the animal carrier and a goat is brought out. Yes, there was a real live chicken and goat. Big Show understands how Khali feels and he wants to express his feelings, too. Show extends his hand and Khali takes it. Show hits Khali with a right hand sending him to the mat. Big Show leaves while officials come out to check on Khali.

Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore vs. John Morrison and the Miz

There were some great spots in this match and some great false finishes. The end came after Yang sent Morrison to the outside, only to get the neckbreaker portion of the Reality Check from The Miz to end the match.
Winners: John Morrison and The Miz

Edge and Vicki Guerrero are shown in a health spa getting a couples massage, while Teddy Long is standing in the background. Edge says that this was a great idea by Vicki because he's so stressed out from losing to The Undertaker.

Finlay w/Hornswoggle vs. Matt Striker

Hornswoggle threatened Striker with a bucket, but only got confetti thrown on him. Hornswoggle hands him an umbrella, but he didn't know what to do with it so he threw it to the ground. Hornswoggle opened up the umbrella for himself and told him to look behind. Finlay threw a bucket of water at him. The final moments of the match had Hornswoggle run into the ring with a pretend mallet to hit Striker in the back, distracting him. The ref grabbed the mallet to throw it out of the ring, allowing Finlay to hit Striker with a shilleleigh shot for the win.
Winner: Finlay

We're shown a recap of the events involving Victoria, Michelle McCool and that mysterious woman (Natalia Neidhart).

Victoria makes her way to the ring with her new friend to introduce her to everyone. Nattie Neidhart will be working under the name Natalia Neidhart. Victoria said that if you don't know who her father is then take a look at the video. It shows Jim Neidhart.

Michelle McCool vs. Victoria w/Natalia Neidhart
This was a short match with distractions from Neidhart. The end came when Neidhart threw her jacket at McCool to distract her while Victoria got a school boy on her.
Winner: Victoria

Batista and Shawn Michaels are both introduced. The two pretty much say the same things from the last couple times they went face to face, most recently on WWE RAW. Shawn Michaels was about to exit the ring when he faked a super kick. Batista ducked away and set up for the Batista Bomb. Shawn Michaels rolled out of the ring to end the segment.

Vladimir Kozlov vs. Matt Logan
Logan is from Boston and trained at Chaotic. There was minimal offense from Logan, but the match didn't last long as Kozlov won with an inverted DDT.
Winner: Vladimir Kozlov

WWE Advertises Clinton vs. Obama for RAW

This is lame.

On last night ECW, WWE ran a sketch inviting Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to settle their differences in the ring on the April 21st three-hour edition of Monday Night RAW.

WWE said, "Forget about who is better when the phone rings at 3am and see who is better when the bell rings!"

Expect this to be similar to WWE's rendition of Donald Trump vs. Rosie O'Donnell a couple years back, which was one of the stupider segments in WWE history.
