Matt and Jeff Hardy Updates

  • When WWE decided to reunite the Hardy Boyz, the plan was to put them in a short-term program. But writers had to alter the original plan when the Hardys got over with the fans. With the Hardy’s losing the tag team titles, Matt Hardy is in line for a big push on SmackDown. It’s said to be a long-term soap opera angle as he will defeat mid-carders and then lose to the top guys, while still being over with the fans.

Matt and Jeffy Hardy

  • As far as Jeff Hardy goes, he may be given a prankster type gimmick backstage. The new gimmick could possibly set him up in the Jackass angle planned for Summerslam.

WWE Rumors: Viscera Push, Sandmore Role and More

  • Viscera’s move from WWE RAW to ECW is in his favor. He will be repackaged with a whole new look and a monster push. According to Lordsofpain.net, look for him to demolish anyone in his sight on ECW and then be moved back over to RAW or SmackDown to feud with the champion of either brand as a heel.
  • Sandman’s new role in WWE will be similar to Jim Duggan and Eugene, where he will be used to put people over.
  • Hardcore Holly has heat with ECW’s head writer, David Lagana. When Holly injured his elbow, he was asked to stick it out until WrestleMania and he would receive a big push. He lived up to his end of the bargain, but never received his promised push.
  • Victoria and Jillian Hall were moved to help freshen up the women’s division on each show. Jillian was also rewarded with her last name again.

The Think Tank: The Real Million Dollar Man

The Think Tank By Pete Ellis

Ted Dibiasi once described what his life as a professional wrestler was like under the command of Vince McMahon. Dibiasi said Vince had him living like a real millionaire: Stretch limos, first class accommodations, and flawless grooming before every public appearance.

Perhaps McMahon felt this kind of living would help Ted develop a more convincing character, or perhaps he treated a lot of his top names to such a superstar lifestyle at one time or another. In any case, "The Million Dollar Man" will go down in history as one of the companies best villains.

The irony here is that McMahon himself is, of course, the true evil billionaire. He has been playing the role of a corporate shark since the late 1990s - and that position has served him well.

Any popular WWE hero can stand against Vince and be an instant success; Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H and more recently John Cena and Bobby Lashley have thrived in the role of the hero pitted against a villainous billionaire and his endless resources.

The Kiss His Ass Club Countless other wrestlers have played off of this angle, such as Ric Flair, Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan and just about everyone in Vince's family who's been on camera. Despite his recent efforts to change his personality, I have a feeling (and a $50 bet) that says we'll see Vince and his "kiss my ass club" for years to come.

The real question, which may never be fully answered, is what McMahon is like in his personal life. No DVD special will ever be able to accurately paint the true picture. But perhaps he isn't all that different from what we see on TV?

What do you think?

Vince McMahon "Death" a Hit on the Internet

When Vince McMahon supposedly died on Monday Night RAW, WWE fans flocked to the Internet to see if the death actually occurred.

Last week, WWE was No. 1 and Vince McMahon was No. 3 on Yahoo’s “top leaders” list, with Paris Hilton separating them. Mr. McMahon was also on the “top mover” list coming in at No. 13.

The WWE also experienced the biggest jump on this week's Lycos 50, coming in at No. 2 behind Hilton. There was an incredible 9,800% spike in search activity for Mr. McMahon on Lycos.

WWE News/Notes: Jesse Ventura, Smackdown Rating

  • Vince McMahon had a meeting with Jesse Ventura on June 14. Details of the meeting remain sketchy, but it’s said that Ventura was dressed as if it were a serious business meeting. There have been rumors of him returning for a General Manager character. There’s also talk of WWE doing a DVD on Ventura.
  • Friday night’s edition of SmackDown scored a 2.6 rating. This is the third consecutive week SmackDown has brought in a 2.6 fast rating. The first hour averaged a 2.3 rating while the second hour brought in a strong 2.9 rating.

WWE Spoilers: Smackdown Results, 6-22-07

The following report is courtesy of lordsofpain.net...

The show opens with The Cutting Edge. The topic of discussion - who killed Vince McMahon? Edge mentions it's often the person you least suspect, with him then calling for Torrie Wilson to come out. Edge mentions the past between Vince and Torrie and the recent altercation on Raw a few weeks back with her, Flair, and Vince. As Torrie stands there not sure what to say, MVP appears, wearing a suit, and begins to sympathize with Torrie before calling her a liar. This leads to Ric Flair appearing, who received the pop of the night.

Ric Flair Flair gets in the ring and comes face-to-face with MVP before decking him but is eventually double teamed by MVP and Edge, leading to Batista running out to make the save. And you have the buildup for the night's main event tag team match: Flair & Batista vs. MVP & Edge

Teddy Long is shown backstage speaking with Vickie Guerrero. The audio went out, but it appeared as though he was praising her idea for the night's main event tag team match.

WWE Cruiserweight Champion Chavo Guerrero Jr. & Jamie Noble defeated Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore at 6:13 when Chavo pinned Moore with a Gory Bomb. Good match. Moore got the hot tag and cleaned house, with Yang eventually hitting a somersault splash to the floor on Noble immediately before the finish. After the match, Yang motioned to Chavo he was coming for the belt.

Mark Henry defeated Sho Funaki via TKO with the bearhug at 2:14

We got a recap of the Vince McMahon car explosion. The first of many recaps throughout the night. This was followed by the WWE 24/7 "Right Now" music video, done just for the live crowd.

Long was again speaking with Vickie backstage in which he mentioned Vince's "death" and said life's too short and he would make an announcement later in the show regarding that. Kristal then appeared and Long said he wanted her to come out to the ring with him.

Matt Hardy pinned Finlay at 17:08 with the Twist of Fate, moments after being hit in the leg with the shillelagh. Really solid match. Finlay worked Hardy's leg the entire time and ripped off his knee brace. It appeared at many times throughout the match that Matt was too hurt to continue, but he hit a surprise Twist of Fate as the referee tried to get Hornswaggle out of the ring. I think the story told here really built Matt up as a singles player.

Long and Kristal come out to the ring and Long talks about how life is precious and too short and he doesn't want to continue his without Kristal. He gets down on his knee and pops the question, but Kristal bursts out crying and after several awkward moments runs backstage. Long, confused, soon follows.

Chris Masters defeated Danny Shanley via submission with the Masterlock at 3:44.

The Sensational Sherri still image was again shown. Apparently, she couldn't get a memorial video package shown on Smackdown, either.

Long is backstage knocking on Kristal's door. She eventually answers and is still crying. After several moments of Long apologizing for asking in front of the audience, Kristal agrees to marry Long and they hug.

The federal investigator updates us on the exploding limo. He won't go into specifics but says the DNA of three people was found inside the car - Vince, his driver, and "one other well known personality." Well that narrows it down...

Batista & Ric Flair defeated World Heavyweight Champion Edge & WWE US Champion MVP at 13:49 when Batista pinned Edge with the sit-down powerbomb after reversing Edge's spear into a spinebuster.

WWE Backstage Reaction to Vince McMahon Death Angle

The Pro Wrestling Torch is reporting that there are still many people within WWE not very fond of the Vince McMahon death angle at the moment.

While there was talk of ending the angle quickly, it appears as of now that WWE will continue pushing it as much as possible, as proven with the announcement of another three-hour edition of Raw this Monday night with the angle the focus that evening.

Speaking of, The Pro Wrestling Torch is also reporting that WWE has made attempts to get into contacts with Chris Jericho about a possible return. Based on what is known at this time, Jericho was said to have been really turned off by the current McMahon angle and reportedly doesn't want to be associated with WWE at this time.

WWE News/Notes: Ashley on Survivor, Flair Retirement and More

  • Paul London has been telling his close friends that he was almost fired by WWE management last week after allowing the Ashley Massaro/Survivor information to get out. Reportedly, Ashley vouched for Paul to management and claimed he would have never intentionally leaked the confidential information.

From there, London had a huge smile on his face when all the WWE talent was present during Vince's final walk to his limousine. All of the WWE talent was told to treat the situation as serious and real, while London was doing anything but. Vince was furious at London afterwards, just adding to the heat on the wrestler, Lordsofpain.net says.

  • Here are some details about Ashley Massaro and Survivor. Massaro left for the show last weekend and will be taping for 40 days in China. Even when she's eliminated, she has to remain in a undisclosed location. Survivor officials do not want Massaro to return to WWE television until the Survivor season has concluded when it runs this fall/winter. Therefore, don't expect Massaro back until January of 2008.
  • Ric Flair will be finishing up as an active WWE wrestler at Wrestlemania 24.
  • WWE management has high hopes for Johnny Nitro. A big part of the reason they moved him to ECW was to split him from real life girlfriend Melina. Management thinks Melina is a major distraction towards the growth of Nitro as a performer due to her bad social behavior and reputation.
  • The reason Dan Rodman was booked to wrestle John Cena in the main event of a house show recently was to see how he performed under pressure at the highest level. Rodman is one of Johnny Ace's pet projects and management is expecting big things from him. Don't expect to see him on Raw, Smackdown, or ECW until they feel he is absolutely ready.

Jerry Lawler Responds to Charges

We posted earlier today about charges supposedly pressed against Jerry Lawler.

The King responded to these accusations to 1wrestling.com. Here's what Lawler said:

Regarding the complaint, this has got to be joke!

I have not had anything official served to me as yet. I first heard about this from a friend who called that he heard it on TV.

He explained that the TV report said that Sal Corrente, who is the Big Cheese on our show, got in touch with Tunica, Mississippi Police filed assault and battery charges, claiming I hit him too hard during a wrestling match!

This has got to be a joke. If I got arrested every time I hit a wrestler or manager during a wrestling show, I would be on death row by now!
