TNA Wrestling: BG James Talks About Voodoo Kin Mafia, WWE
BG James was interviewed for TNA Wrestling's monthly media conference call yesterday. While promoting the upcoming Turning Point PPV, he also discussed the Voodoo Kin Mafia v.s DX/WWE angle. Wrestlemag.com had the summary:
On the VKM âInvasion": James admitted thereâs a nostalgic aspect to it. He said he thought the VKM segments on iMPACT made for entertaining TV, but also said that he doesnât get the same feeling he did when he was in the WWE and DX did the WCW invasion. The subject of VKM at a recent WWE house show was brought up, with James saying if they bought a ticket they could sit âanywhere we choose to go,â and that WWE were powerless to stop them.
On how VKM can keep the angle going, James said he had no idea what was next. He said the idea had been pitched of VKM appearing on RAW to work with DX (like thatâs going to happen), but also said he doesnât want to fight either Triple H or Shawn Michaels and that what they were doing is just to create interest in wrestling and that itâs entertainment.
On legal problems with WWE: James said that WWEâs legal department have contacted TNA Wrestling on a few occasions about the gimmick. James said that was the point - to get a response and to get at them - and the fact Jim Ross publically commented on TNA and VKM showed that it had worked. James also said that heâd love to work a match with WWE talent, and if egos were out of the way, they could headline a PPV that the fans would get into.
Challenging The Hardy Boyz at December to Dismember: James knew they wouldnât get a response from WWE, and again commented on how if ego and business was put aside that them working with WWE talent would be âawesome ⦠for the wrestling fans.â
On how the VKM name was born: He said the idea pitched by TNA was âVery Kool Men,â but BG sat down with his son and thought of cool words beginning with the letter V. They decided on Voodoo, and the âKinâ came about as BG and Kip James are supposed to be brothers.
On former DX members joining VKM: There was talk of Sean Waltman joining at one point, but no talks with Joanie Laurer had been considered. BG also joked that there was talk of Kevin Nash coming in as they needed a younger guy.
Paul Heyman in TNA: James said that TNA has a good business sense, but itâs a âSouthern, redneck style of doing things.â He went on to say he didnât know whether Paul Heyman would be well received by the locker room.
On Triple H: James admitted his feelings towards Hunter had changed since he and Kip did a shoot interview hitting out at him. James said he owes an apology but wasnât sure if heâd ever give it to him.
On TNAâs tag team division: He put over the teams in TNA, and said that WWE doesnât have a tag team division at all. He joked that whoever is in charge in WWE should be fired.

I just hope that WWE will respond to TNA officially to begin the war and we'll see between DX and VKM the better stable and of course the better promotion between WWE and TNA as all talents get involved.

well i personally feel tna has come a long way , but it is no match for wwe ! tna wrestlers are a bunch of wwe rejects no more ! i feel this way towards many wrestlers.sting, somoajoe, kevinnash, the truth,aj styles, cristopher daniels and kurtangle are the only ones who entertain ppl. even the legends like ric steiner do their bit. but u cant compare a lowdown company like tna to vince mcman's genious i.e. wwe. i'd like to watch one more session of the monday night war between tna and wwe but it'll be nothing like the old wars bet. wwe and wcw. tna will eventually get their ass whupped. it is not even a competition for wwe.as a wwe fan i say this "DX ROX VKM SUX"

Jeff Jarret's "ROADIE" (BG James), and Billy Gunn (Kip James), should shut the hell up. They wouldn't be where they are without DX. BG would still be a b*tch Roadie and Kip James would be on Broke Back Mountain with his brother Bart Gunn without dx.

I've watched wrestling for over 20 years i thought tna was boring at first but it is in fact more entertaining. wwe has gotten so boring they only want these chiseled buff guys as champs cena, lashley, batista. cena is the only 1 that can talk the other 2 suck with a mic. then to get people to hate cena less they get k-fed involved. bg james says he's doing for the fans and i think its great, i'm sure he wants to help push tna in the process. i watch tna to see whats next....haven't had that feeling since nash/hall wnet to wcw. wish wwe would do something creative but instead i'll get to watch the same gimmicks with the same moves every match and then i'll get to predict the outcome. the only guy i really like in wwe is ken kennedy but he's on the B-show smackdown. dx was better when they were hated now apparently they can get they're asses handed to em. 5 years from now all you clowns that dont like VKM or team rated RKO will want to see an RKO reunion.

honestly, b.g james and kip james, i think really provided another angle regarding the DX faction being revived by WWE. having both VKM and DX (revived) on a wrestling match or maybe a "shoot promo" would really generate a lot of interest from wrestling fans. it could also be part of the upcoming WRESTLEMANIA EVENT. VKM does not suck -- they were an integral part of DX then and would not make any difference if they would join or fight the newly revived DX

Honestly, what it all comes down to is how this affects the ratings. When WWE "visited" WCW, it was at the height of the Monday Night Wars, and did a lot to help showcase DX as a viable stable compared to the NWO. TNA's attempt at it just doesn't work because TNA doesn't have the recognition that WWE does. BG James knows very well that WWE is not going to respond to the "War" because there is no reason for WWE to do so. Hypothetically, if WWE decided to go along with it, it would only boost TNA's ratings. So why would the WWE do it? WWE's ratings are head over heels above TNA's and would gain absolutely nothing from it. This was just TNA's sad attempt to piggyback themselves to the WWE. WCW and WWE were both household names during the Monday Night Wars, and WWE's "Invasion" of WCW was simply used to keep the fans switching channels back and forth and prevent WCW from gaining a huge ratings edge. So, in that case, it made sense for WWE to do it.

- after watching this extensive war between the two promotion. I have found World Wrestling Entertainment ( WWE) more of a profitable company the Total Nonstop Action (TNA).
TNA parent company " Panda Energy"has an estimated revenue worth only $ 210 million dollars. WWE estimated revenue is at 3.1 billion dollars. AS of Next year WWE will host Wrestlemania 24 in Orlanda,Florida the home of TNA.

I think that tna sixth sided ring sucks, but never the less they have a hell of great talent there. And i also wish wwe and tna compete in a ppv contest.

The best times were when wcw and wwe were in cometition.i think vince Mcmahon should buy tna and gather all wrestling superstars together.

i think wwe and tna talent should team up and go fight the mexican wrestlers because they been runing there mouth alot as well about american wrestlers.

Long time wrestling fan. Just started watching TNA last year, and I am impressed with the level of in-ring talent. Theatrical talent could use some work, but I watch for the purity of wrestling not the drama. It would be great for both franchises if WWE would allow interpromotional matches. TNA has more than enough talent to keep up with WWE, but lack the financial behemoth known as the McMahons. Maybe if we all just learn to play nice and share, maybe the true wrestling fans like myself will get what we crave... the interpromotional event of the century.
