The Boss Over The Game: WWE RAW Results, 9-11-06

The following report is courtesy of lordsofpain.net ...

The show opened with a live look inside the arena and a moment of silence for all those lost on 9/11/01. Signs were shown from throughout the arena that were dedicated to remembering 9/11. Howard Finkel then introduced the US Marine Corp. color guard and Lillian Garcia, who sang “America the Beautiful.” The “USA” chants followed from the MSG crowd…

Sing It, Lillian

Match 1: Ric Flair vs. Umaga (w/ Armando Alejandro Estrada)
- Flair wasted no time attacking Umaga with chops and a rake to the eyes. He then went downstairs with a chop block, but couldn’t knock the bigger man down. Umaga came back and tried to hit the Samoan Spike, but Flair hit him with three consecutive low blows (while AAE for some reason distracted the ref). Flair then grabbed a steel chair and got himself disqualified. Umaga didn’t sell it, though. Flair went to the outside to get the ring steps, but Umaga knocked them away. Umaga proceeded to drop Flair on the floor with a Samoan Drop.

The Samoan Bulldozer threw Flair back in the ring and tossed the ring steps in there after him. Before he could use them, though, Kane came down to the ring. The two brawled, but Kane got the upper hand and went for the chokeslam. Umaga countered, though, and hit a belly-to-belly suplex. He followed with a chair shot to the back and another to the head. Kane sat up as Umaga posed and gave the Bulldozer a big boot. The Big Red Machine drilled Umaga with the chair twice, but Umaga fell out of the ring and landed on his feet. Kane proceeded to throw the ring steps at him and hit him square in the face. AAE hightailed it and Kane posed in the ring. Umaga defeated Flair via DQ at 1:10.

JR and King hyped the main-events for tonight, including McMahon vs. Triple H and Edge/Nitro/Orton vs. Cena/Hardy/Carlito.

Lillian Garcia introduced the New York Police Department’s (bag) pipes and drums group. The Highlanders followed them out to the ring, as did none other than Rowdy Roddy Piper. The three kilt-bearers made their way to the ring. Piper took a mic and hyped the NYPD. A “Roddy” chant broke out, as Piper said he loved the crowd. He said he was wandering around 8th street in NYC when he came across the 51 worst offenders in wrestling history, which is featured in WWE Magazine. He hyped that he was number one and that the Highlanders were the #1 contenders to the tag titles. Piper and Robby had fun going back and forth saying their names, and then they had fun slapping each other.

The Spirit Squad interrupted the fun, though, and made their way to the top of the ramp. One of them spoke and trashed the three Scots. Piper said that they talked tough for guys that had their balls removed and replaced with palm-palms. He challenged them to a six-man tag team match. The Squad huddled and then accepted the challenge. NYPD took off and we went to commercial in anticipation of the forthcoming match.

Match 2: The Highlanders and Roddy Piper vs. The Spirit Squad
- The match began during the break, but back from the break, Piper and the Scots were in control. Robby held an arm bar, but the Squad distracted the ref, Piper, and Rory, allowing the rest of the Squad to interfere. Mikey came in and went to work on Robby’s arm. Johnny tagged in and pounded away at Robby in the corner. Kenny tagged in and the duo hit a double suplex, which JR called a double clothesline. A rest hold followed, but Robby escaped. The Squad interfered again, though, allowing Kenny to remain in control.

The cheap tactics continued from the tag champs, but Robby fought back and went thru a rough sequence w/ Mikey as they both tried for back elbow smashes. Kenny tagged back in and hit a flying back elbow. Johnny tagged back in, but got caught in a sunset flip for a near fall. The Squad member fought right back, though, and locked in a chinlock. Robby finally got the hot tag to Piper, who came in and cleaned house. He Roddy eventually isolated Mikey and knocked him out of the ring. Kenny then regained control for a short time, but ended up getting back body dropped by Piper over the top rope. Johnny tried to pick up where Kenny left off, but the Highlanders re-entered the ring and hit a double slingshot reverse suplex for the win. Piper and the Highlanders defeated the Squad at an estimated 6:00.

Backstage, IC Champion Johnny Nitro (w/ Melina) was interviewed about his preparation for the upcoming 6-man tag match. Nitro addressed Hardy’s comment from last week (about their press conference being like watching paint dry). They also made fun of Mick Foley. At that point, Jeff Hardy showed up in the background and painted a quick picture. Nitro was made aware of it and attacked Hardy. Jeff threw a bucket of paint on the IC champ, though, covering his mink jacket in yellow coloring.

Match 3: WWE Champion Edge (w/ Lita), Intercontinental Champion Johnny Nitro (w/ Melina), and Randy Orton vs. John Cena, Jeff Hardy, and Carlito
- The crowd wasted little time giving a fairly decent “Cena Sucks” chant. Nitro and Hardy started off against each other. A Lita distraction allowed Nitro to take control early, but Hardy came right back and hit a swinging double boot and a double legged drop to the groin. Carlito tagged in and the crowd got behind him. He hit a nice dropkick for a near fall. Nitro forced Carlito into the corner, though, allowing Orton to tag in and take control for a second. Carlito came back quickly with a clothesline and a back elbow.

Another “Cena Sucks” chant erupted, as Edge tagged and regained control for the heels. Carlito again came back quickly with a springboard moonsault that caught nothing but air, which he followed smoothly with a hurricanrana. Cena tagged in to the delight of some and ire of others, but Edge scattered away and tagged Orton. Cena took control with a fisherman’s suplex. Edge provided a distraction soon after, allowing Orton to hit a suplex and tag in Nitro. Johnny, covered in paint, continued the assault on the former champ. Cena fought back and tagged Carlito, who hit a suplex. Dueling chants for Cena erupted, as one half chanted in his favor and the other against him. Orton, meanwhile, tagged back in and hit a dropkick on Carlito. He proceeded to lock in a rear choke, but Carlito came right back with a jumping clothesline.

The faces did some heel like tactics in their corner before Jeff Hardy tagged and hit an awkward clothesline that was supposed to send Orton over the top rope. It didn’t and Hardy hit a flying forearm. He then hit the clothesline over the top that he’d intended before. Hardy flew over the top with a high risk move, but botched it when his foot caught the bottom of the top rope. The botched move separated the two teams as we got a dreaded mid-match commercial break. Back from the break, Edge had Hardy in a half Boston Crab. Hardy tried to escape and get to his corner, but Nitro tagged in a beat him to the corner. The dueling Cena chants continued, as Nitro worked over Hardy’s leg. Hardy countered out and took Nitro down with a head scissor. Orton tagged in, though, and continued the assault on Hardy’s injured leg. Edge tagged in and did more of the same. He also got in a crowd taunt, allowing Hardy to get back in the match with the Whisper in the Wind. Carlito and Orton made tags, but Carlito took control.

Unfortunately for CCC, it was short-lived, as when he went for the springboard back elbow, Edge pulled down the bottom rope and caused Carlito to careening down to the floor. Edge tagged back in and worked over Carlito’s leg, continuing to make this quite the mat-based encounter. Nitro came back in and connected on several mounted punches. He followed with a neckbreaker. The dueling chants, by the way, continued, as half the crowd chanted for him to go to Smackdown. Nitro locked in a rear choke. Carlito made it to his feet and connected on a springboard back elbow attempt. He then made the tag to Cena, who cleaned house, hit the Throwback on Nitro, and the Prototype spinning backdrop on Edge. Orton tried for the RKO, but Carlito caught him with the Back Cracker. Hardy followed with a Swanton Bomb on the Legend Killer. Cena proceeded to get Edge in FU position, only for Nitro to interfere. Edge went to the outside, but the heels still go FU’ed, as Nitro took Cena’s finisher. The finish came when Cena made Nitro tap to the STFU. Carlito, Cena, and Hardy defeated Orton, Edge, and Nitro at 17:55.

Match 4: Chris Masters vs. Super Crazy
- Masters started off with a boot to the gut and several shots to the back of the head. Looking confident and poised for redemption, Masters caught Crazy in an attempted spinning wheel kick and dropped him down with a body slam. Crazy tried to fight back, but Masters dominated and eventually locked in a rear choke. Super Crazy eventually scored with a cross body from the second rope, but Masters came right back and smashed him in the corner. Crazy finally got in some sustained offense with a drop toe hold followed by a springboard shining wizard. He then hit a top rope missile dropkick before countering a Masters powerbomb into an arm drag. The finish came when Crazy got another surprise win with a sunset flip at 3:01.

Interviews with the cast and crew of The Marine aired.

Trish's last RAW

Match 5: Trish Stratus vs. Mickie James
- They circled the ring and then locked up. Mickie grabbed an arm bar and torqued it. Trish spun out and tripped Mickie. James came back with a quick roll-up. They went into a stand-off and locked up again. Trish grabbed a headlock and torqued it. Stratus followed with a Lou Thesz press, but soon after got caught with a hurricanrana. A nice double clothesline followed and took both ladies down. Mickie got to her feet first and drilled her Trish to the mat. She went to the top rope, but Trish got her with a hand stand into a leg takedown. Trish went for the Chick Kick, but Mickie countered into a roll-up. Lita then made her presence felt and got on the apron.

The finish came when Trish did the Stratusfaction on Mickie, but dropkicked Lita off the apron in the process. Trish defeated Mickie at 3:14.

JR and King ran down the final Unforgiven card, featuring Big Show and the McMahons vs. DX (HIAC), Cena vs. Edge for the title (TLC), Kane vs. Umaga, Hardy vs. Nitro for the IC title, Highlanders vs. Spirit Squad for the tag titles, Carlito vs. Orton, and Trish’s farewell match vs. Lita for the women’s title.

Backstage, DX were confronted by Cade and Murdoch. DX promptly tried to get them out of their way, only for Shane McMahon to show up and help them take out Triple H. Meanwhile, Big Show attacked HBK and tossed him on the hood of the limo. Trips got his head smashed threw the window of the limo and the car door slammed on his head. Vince came into the picture and said that his match w/ Trips would be No Holds Barred. He told Show and the boys to make sure Trips made it to the ring.

Match 6: Vince McMahon vs. Triple H in a No Holds Barred Match
- Triple H, bleeding from the side of the head or ear, stumbled down to the ring. Trips tried to attack once the bell rang, but Vince easily side-stepped him and went to work with several right handed punches. He connected on a headbutt, as well. Another headbutt followed. Vince then took off his belt and choked Trips. The crowd was fairly quiet, but they awoke to chant for “HBK.” Meanwhile, Trips got to his feet only to get punched repeatedly and knocked out of the ring. Vince followed suit and tossed Trips head-first into the ring post. The crowd got pretty quiet again. Back in the ring, Trips did the crotch chop. Vince nailed him with the Pedigree, though. 1…2…No!

Vince Over Triple H

Triple H kicked out and got fired up! He made a Hogan-esque comeback and caught McMahon with a spinebuster. At that point, Shane got involved and nailed Trips in the back of the head. He dropped an elbow and retrieved a chair from the outside. HBK came down to even the score, though, and cleaned house…that is until Big Show came down and took him out. Triple H got the sledgehammer, but wasn’t fit enough to use it. Show picked up HBK and Shane drilled the Showstopper with a chair. Vince then picked up the sledgehammer and blasted Triple H in the temple. VKM made the pin and he, Shane, and Show celebrated their victory as the show faded to black. Vince defeated Trips at 7:01.
