WWE RAW Invades Smackdown: Smackdown Results, 9-29-06

The following results are courtesy of lordsofpain.net ...

Opening Segment shows what happened with the "Royal Court" attacking Cena on WWE RAW. Immediatly Cena's music hits (no opening pyro!) and he comes out to 99.9% cheers. Cena talks about how tonight he has backup in the form of Lashley and Batista and will kick Booker's ass.

Match 1: Rey Mysterio vs Elijah Burke
- Sylvester Terkay was ringside the entire match. Pretty good match with Mysterio hitting the 619 and a huracanrana for the win. After the match Turkay stares down Mysterio and then destroys him. Mysterio wins.

Match 2: Pitbulls vs Idol & Stevens for Tag Team Title shot at No Mercy
- Basically, it was a brawl, with the Pitbulls working their new "stiff" style. Pitbulls get the win and will face London and Kendrick at No Mercy.

Next was a segment with Ken Kennedy in the ring with memorial wreaths. He says Undertaker's legacy is unmatched and basically said he respects the Taker. Taker comes out to his wicked entrance and stares down Kennedy.

Undertaker Emerges

Kennedy's mic sparks like it electricuted him thanks to Takers "magic." Kennedy cowers outside the ring for a while, then goes back in to get knocked back out by Taker. Taker posed in the ring with his purple light.

Match 3: The Miz vs Tatanka
- Tatanka was way over, seeing as how we are in Oklahoma. Eventually Miz cheats to win. Tatanka agrues with ref and looks like he's gonna clock him by the entrance set.

Match 4: Matt Hardy vs. Chavo Guerrero
- With the referee distracted by the appearance of Shane Helms and his attention elsewhere, Hardy is dealt a low blow by Vickie who crawls into the ring. Chavo delivers a DDT onto Hardy and from the top rope delivers the frog splash and covers Hardy for the win! Chavo Guerrero defeated Matt Hardy in 4 minutes.

Match 5: Sylvan vs Jimmy Wang Yang
Good match. Jimmy Yang was incredibly over with the crowd. Some funny moments when the crowd was chanting USA for Yang. Yang hit some great high risk moves, but Sylvan ends up winning out of no where.

Match 6: Lashley/Batista/Cena vs King Booker/Finlay/Regal
Great main event. Batista's pyro is insanely loud! The crowd was nuts the entire match. Not a person sat down. Cena had is arm all taped up (selling the RAW attack) and was isolated for most of the match. He eventually gets the hot tag and Lashley spears Booker for the 1-2-3. The place explodes. Cena's posing in the ring and Edge appears out of nowhere and lays out Cena. Edge then left through the crowd.

TNA News: Length of Kurt Angle and Team 3D Contracs

We have more news from TNA on the contract of Kurt Angle and Team 3D:
Team 3D

The contract is exclusive and Angle will NOT be doing MMA. While the length of Angle's contract isn't known, it is believed that any move to MMA was just a hoax. It was planted to prevent anyone from thinking he was going to TNA.

Meanwhile, Team 3D came to terms on a new one-year deal with TNA recently. The deal has an option for a second year. According to reports, both members were overheard telling people at the TNA TV tapings on Monday that TNA is the best place for them right now, considering the state of the business.

WWE Rumors: Justin Credible Released from ECW

This would be just too bad for the long-time, respected, ECW star, but reports are surfacing that Justin Credible has been notified of his release by John Laurinaitis via a fax message sent to him earlier in the week.

The veteran hasn't appeared on any ECW programs for a few weeks.

TNA News: Kurt Angle Salary Released

According to F4WOnline.com, sources have been throwing a numbe around as the yearly base salary for Kurt Angle in TNA: $650,000.

If the figure is valid - and it would be in addition to money from outside bookings, endorsements and a cut of Kurt Angle merchandise sale - the wrestler is on pace to receive significantly more money than even Sting made as part of the TNA wrestling crew.

It would also amount to a far greater per-show deal than Angle received while with WWE.

Jim Ross Comments on Kurt Angle in TNA

Good ol' JR certainly has many good ol' opinions about what goes on in the wrestling business. Therefore, it should be no surprise that he recently spoke out about Kurt Angle joining TNA wrestling:

What is the over/under on how long Kurt Angle stays in TNA? I think the world of Kurt and hope he gets totally healthy much sooner than later. Perhaps being a part of TNA will work for Kurt as it relates to travel and in ring demands.

I do think this genre is much better suited for Angle than mixed martial arts, UFC, etc. I wish Kurt well on his new opportunity and that is true, damn true.

Sounds classy of Jim Ross ... with maybe a touch of bitterness or hope for Angle to return to the WWE someday?

WWE RAW Ratings Drop Again; ECW Holds Strong

RAW LogoIf the company thought last week's WWE RAW rating of 3.7 was poor, it's easy to imagine their reaction to these numbers.

The show Monday night drew a disappointing 3.4 score this week, as ESPN's Monday Night Football (the first game in New Orleans in over a year) scored a huge 11.8, the largest number in the ESPN history.

WWE officials are hoping next week's John Cena/Edge Steel Cage match provides a ratings boost.

In better news, though, ECW on SCI-FI scored a 1.9 rating for the first time since September 11. Maybe people actually do wish to see regular brand stars, such as Sandman, in the spotlight instead of constant cross-overs from WWE stars.

WWE Rumors: Haas and Benjamin to Reform; Mysterio to Take Time Off

They were known as The World's Greatest Tag Team, so it would make sense for Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas to go after the titles again, right?

Rumors are swirling that WWE management wants to reunite the pair, but is afraid that Benjamin's poor mic skills would pose a problem. That hasn't stopped the company from pushing a racism story line on RAW with the wrestler, however.

In other news, it appears likely that Rey Mysterio will take time off after No Mercy on October 8.

Major Smackdown Announcement is ... Signing of MVP?

Earlier today, WWE.com hyped up a "major announcement" from Smackdown GM, Teddy Long. The resulting big news?

MVP Joins Smackdown

He has signed Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) to a WWE contract. Ummm ... ok. We really doubted that was gonna happen after all the hype over the last few weeks.

So, if there really is gonna be a battle between the WWE and TNA wrestling, it's safe to say TNA struck the first blow. It's big announcement this week?

The signing of Kurt Angle.

He seems slightly more important than MVP.

WWE Divas Comment on Vacant Women's Title

Sadly, Trish Stratus really is retired.

Stratus Retires

And while other WWE Divas mourn her loss, they also see an opportunity to seize the Women's Title. A tournament for the belt began on RAW this Monday. On WWE.com, various beautiful women spoke about what the championship would mean to them.

Once we were finished drooling over their WWE Diva pictures, we actually listened to what they had to say ...

Micke James: “All of the top women in the WWE have held the Women’s Championship ... I was really honored to hold it when I first won it from Trish at WrestleMania 22 (before losing it to Lita). It’s a huge honor to be crowned Women’s Champion and it is an honor I look forward to having again.

Lita: “I think a tournament is a great opportunity for the Divas to showcase their talent and to see competition that sometimes gets lost in the entertainment that the Divas also provide to the show.”

Gulp!

Torrie Wilson: “The championship embodies a woman who is strong, independent and all the things that I aspire to be."

Maria: “It’s a big deal. Men have more than one championship, but for women, there’s just one for all of us and it means a lot. It represents the cream of the crop, the top of all the WWE Divas.”

Victoria: “I think that I show women that they can be everything they want. They can be tough and strong and sexy because I am all of those things. Plus I have a college background, so I am not just some muscle head.”
